I should tell you I have only begun doing any research within the last year, and so far just used the material in the local library and ordered a few rolls of micro film. I just put the relevant info into the computer and give the hard copy to my dad who files it with his stuff on his side. Sherwood is my moms side. Some Sherwood references I got from "Index to American Genealogies" compiled by Joel Munsell's sons and published by them are: American Ancestry i, 71; ii, 111; iv, 219; v, 11; ix, 108. Baird's History of Rve N.Y. Bolton's History of Westchester Co N.Y. Burr Genealogy Fairfield County Ct. History. Fillow Genealogy. Hinman's Ct Settlers part 6. Hubbell Genealogy. Huntinton's StamfordCt. Settlers. Litchfield County Ct. History. New England Hist. and Gen. Reg. Orcutt's History of Stratford Ct. 1290-3. Orcutt's History of Milford Ct. I have no idea if these would help. I susspect the ones in CT would be relevant. You definately have more info than I do, I didn't even know what Alice's last name was till I saw you have SEABROOK. What I had seen was a reference from "The founders of New England" by Samuel G. Drake p 53-55. This is a passenger list including the SHERWOODS and 4 children. Our local library does have volumes 1-23 of the DAC. You mentioned in your second message you want copies of these? There isn't an index to them all, just each volume. When I have more time I can look through them all and copy anything you might want. Just let me know. "A History of the Old Town of Stratford and the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut" by Rev. Samuel Orcutt. . "Daniel L. Sherwood and his Paternal Ancestors," author unknown. . Sherwood family group sheets from Donald Notley. . I'd also be interested in receiving any info you have. Let me know what you don't have of the above and I'll send it to you. Sherwood referenced on the last page of the Sherwood genealogy listed on pp.408-411 in "History of Fairfield", 1889, Eliz. H. Schenck. Vol.I (1659-1818). In this article it states Thomas Sherwood m2. Mary (but doesn't mention FITCH.). However in the Banks genealogy listed on pp.351-? it states John Banks m2. Mary Fitch widow of Thomas Sherwood I of Fairfield. There is no reference to substantiate this Fitch connection. It is possible other researchers have copied her without checking this data out for themselves to assure accuracy. I have searched by SHERWOOD folder and can't find any reference to that genealogy by W. L. Sherwood. Was my list of Fitch references of any value. I hope to get some responses from that. I could do the same thing for Sherwood. Of course many references would be overlaps. Many of those Fitch references contain inaccuracies in title, etc. simply because my informants were vague in there citations. I hope to correct some of my inaacuracies also with the Fitch list. PS. Just found info on W.L.Sherwood "Sherwood Genealogy". Unpublished work on hundreds of Sherwood families discontinued in 1888 by William Lounsdury Sherwood when his wife died. Research papers reside in Local History and Genealogical Division of the New York Public Library in New York City. A smaller collection of his letters are at the Fairfield Historical Society in Fairfield, CT. These files have pages missing and are becomming brittle. They have not been microfilmed. This info came from Marilyn Lane (of this board) who got it from Fred Notley who claims to have 650 Sherwood group sheets and who charges for making copies from his collection. Other references sent from Notley to Lane were: "History of Stratford", 1886, Orcutt. "The History of Fairfield County", 1889, Eliz. H. Schenck. "History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield", 1943, Donald Lines Jacobus.
