Robbins family by Mark Scott Wed Jul 15 1992 ------------------------------- JK> Would like to find anyone searching for the Robbins family... JK> Ephraim Robbins was born in 1759 in Conn., married in New York I do not have Ephraim Robbins in my Robbins line, but I do have Robbins from that time period in Connecticut who *may* be near cousins. The information comes from a genealogy done by my Grandmother & Great- grandmother in the 1920's-1940's and is concerned principally with direct ancestors. My line flows from William Robbins, the immigrant, (b. 1650, immigrated to Reading, MA before 22 Feb 1675/6; m. Priscilla Gowen, 2 July 1680; died 18 Aug 1725) to John Robbins, the third child, (b. 1688; m. Hannah Clarke 4 Oct 1709; d. 1774) [He owned land in Canterbury, CT. [3 sons of his are mentioned: Joseph of Ashford, CT, Ezekial of Attleborough & David of Attleborough]. to David Robbins, John's 5th child (b. 21 July 1717; m. Catherine Tyler in Attleborough;d. 1799) [13 children, born from 1741 through 1764 are mentioned. David also owned land in Ashford, CT which was sold to his brother Joseph in 1752.] to Serj. David Robbins, Jr, David Sr.'s 3rd child. (b. 25 July 1745 (OS); m. Lucy Knox, 6 Nov 1771; d. 4 Dec 1776) [David Jr. enlisted in the Revolutionary Army from Ashford, CT.] to Samuel Robbins, (apparently the only) son of David Jr. (b. 25 Feb 1775, m. Miriam James, 9 March 1797; d. 19 July 1842). The genealogy also mentions in passing a history of the family by a Mr. I.G. Robbins, but does not give the title or publication date. If nothing else, I hope this information gives you some additional clues in your hunt for Ephraim Robbins. If you have further interest in these people, I can forward a GEDCOM file. ================================= Date: Sat Jul 18 1992 07:06:14 From: Jon Krause To: Mark Scott Subj: Robbins family ------------------------------- Yes, I would be interested in your side of the Robbins maybe buting the two lines together something will work out. Ephriam Robbins born Dec 11, 1759 at Killingley, Windham Co. Conn. I believe his parents where Samuel Robbins and Rhoda ? but some of the family states his parents as Ephriam. He fought in the Revolution as a Privite joining at Brooklyn Conn. After the War I can not find him for several years then he shows up in Whites Township New York. Where I find him married to Lucinda Webster As I stated don't know dates or Where they married just they married by a Methodist Minister named Jonathon Newman. They lived in Whites from about 1780 till 1811 then moved to Erie Co. New York From Erie Co. to Ohio then to Rising Sun Indiana He died June 16 1844. The problem I keep running into is there in Whites was another Ephriam My family states he was his father but as I stated I don't believe it The reason is first his children Labon no Info, Rhoda born Oct 07 1789, Clarissa No Info, Jonathon Newman-This line traveled to Iowa then to Robbins Texas on this line we have Marty Robbins. But back to reasons Rhoda married Morris Merrill. They named all there children by the Dutch way of naming children. This carried down several generations. My great grandfathers name was Samuel Robbins Merrill. I know I am long winded and you probably didnt need all this but I have been tied up on this line along time for I have other questions on this line. I will send you more Input if you'd like if you think we can help Thank You Jon-Lubbock Tx. * Origin: GENEALOGY HQS!
