I have a "Reichert" line from Alsace FRANCE. Depending upon the time
frame, this area could be considered GERMANY. I'm wondering if there
is any connection. My Jacob RICHERT arrived in 1854 and originally
settled in Trumbull Co. OH, later moving to Lawrence Co. PA.

Alternate surname spellings directly associated with Jacob RICHERT is
RAECART, REICHART and RICHART. RICKART has also been associated through
his children. RICHERT appears to be the preferred spelling and has
survived. His Naturalization papers in 1858 give "Raecart".

Family stories tell of Jacob coming to America to avoid conscription
into the army. There may be some truth in this considering Jacob's age
at the time he brought his family to America, the history of the Alsace
region of France, and the birthplace of Catharine. Though speculative,
Jacob likely had already served time in the military under either the
French or the Germans and may have been re-drafted by the other.
