A PROSSER RESEARCHER: SAMPLE LETTERS to OBTAIN FAMILY MEMBER INFO by Diane Prosser Feindt In an attempt to trace the lineage of my Profser/Prosser ancestor, I have begun a project tracing the descendants of the Profser/Prosser name in the United States. I hope that you are able to help me with my project. If so, perhaps I also can help you. I am particularly interested in finding both the ancestors and descendants of Ichabod Profser and Elizabeth (Betsey) Perkins. Elizabeth Perkins is supposed to have been from Vermont. Ichabod resided in Adams, Massachusetts, and petitioned the Province of Massachusetts for the incorporation of New Providence, Massachusetts across the border from Petersburg, NY. His name is on the Battle Monument of Bennington, Vermont, as having fought in the Revolutionary War. I have collected a good deal of information on the Prosser family, but have not been able to discover the parents of Ichabod, or whether or not he was born here or abroad. The name Profser is reported to be Welsh, but I would like to find out the name and lineage of the first Profser to settle in America. For your convenience, I have enclosed an Information Sheet. If you have further information on your Prosser heritage, please include that on a separate sheet. Such information might be relatives interested in genealogy who may have done some research, names and addresses of relatives you feel may know more about the family, books or articles published about the family, family organizations, or anything else you might think of. I an enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope for your convenience in replying. I am willing to share with you any information I currently have as well as information I receive if you are interested. Thank you in advance for your time. Sincerely, Diane Prosser Feindt The PROSSER Family Information Form I am researching the Prosser family, which resided in western Massachusetts, eastern New York State and Vermont during the Revolutionary War period. I would very much appreciate as much information as you can provide. Please return to: Diane Feindt, 5 Isaac Drive, Dayton, NJ 08810. A self-addressed, stamped envelope is enclosed.
