PRATT by Sandy Clunies 26 Feb 1990 ------------------------------------------------ Torrey: CLARK, Daniel (1654-) & Hannah [PRATT]; ca 1678; Hartford/Colchester CT. That means Torrey found her surname in OTHER THAN a marriage record, and that their last place of residence was Colchester. He had no dates on her birth/death. Now Savage records a PRATT family with this description: "John, Hartford, s. of the sec. John, m. Hannah, d. of James BOOSY...had Hannah b. 25 Nov 1658 (...+ 7 more)... Perhaps some of these ch. were by his sec. w. Hepzibah..." Now Savage says nothing about a marriage for this Hannah, but she is sure the right age in the right town! His listing for the father of this John PRATT: "John, of Hartford, an orig. prop, was prob. a carpenter, was fa. of John and Daniel, d. July 1655. Will of 7 Oct preced. names w. Eliz. and the two s. He has been sometimes confus. with the surg. wh. owned no land, whereas this man had several lots." The only other Hartford PRATT Savage mentions is William, an orig. prop, prob bro of John, by w. Eliz d. of John CLARK of Milford, had ...several ch....no Hannah. Now, this looks promising! Chances are then that Hannah PRATT might have married a kinsman from her aunt's CLARK family?? I'd check around in CT histories of Colchester, Milford, and Hartford, John - and check out some of these quick clues. 073/698 12 Jun 90 08:41:42 From: Bob Blair To: John Wylie Subj: PRATT Attr: ------------------------------------------------ Noting the messages between John Wylie and George Laun, we may have a match in your PRATT line in Hartford, Conn. I have a Lieut. William PRATT, born abt 1625, prob. in Say-Brook, CT. He had two sons, John and Samuel. My guess is that he may have been a brother of your John PRATT, christened 9 Nov 1620 in Hartford, CT. My source is "The Pratt Family: or the Descendants of Lieut. William Pratt, one of the First Settlers of Hartford and Say-Brook, with Genealogical Notes," by Rev. F. W. Chapman, A.M., Hartford: Case, Lockwood & Co., 1864. Can you add anything??? I have sketchy information concerning Cotton Mather PRATT, circia 1800,s information indicates that he wasa pilot on a mississppi river boat and was married to a woman named HAMMER, who was of German or Pen Dutch anncestory. One of his sons was a William Prescot PRATT b 17 APR 1830 in Pittsburg, Pa. Married Adelia J. STIVERS 25 Feb 1852 , died 2 APR 1911 Phillipsburg KS. William PPRATT had one unamed sister who married a man named BROWN in Meadsville Pa. Two brothers named Abner and Joesph. As a direct desendent of William P. PRATT I have extensive information concerning that line as it was researched by my Great Uncle, Clearence E. Pratt (William P. Pratt's grandson). Could there be a link between your William PRATT and my Cotton Mather PRATT? Pratt"? He descended from Lt. Wm. and Elizabeth Pratt of Saybrook, CT, and some genealogical information is given. In case you didn't know, Parley P. Pratt was a leader in the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you are interested, and can't find a copy of the book, I'll be glad to fill you in on the details. - Terri --- via Quickpoint XRS 3.1 * Origin: Researching CARTER, HERRING & MALPASS in NC (Quick 1:151/124.4) 141/250 261/1023 275/1 448/533 30 Jun 90 08:16:14 From: John Wylie To: Terri Jaskolka Subj: PRATT Attr: ------------------------------------------------ In a message of <26 Jun 90 16:52:00>, Terri Jaskolka (1:151/124.4) writes: TJ>have you seen the "Autobiography of Parley P.
