My Confuser (sp) has a habit of not forgiving me for missspelllings when I am in my data recovery mode of my Genealogical Data Base. I use BK4.5c and used its predecessors FAMILY & FAMILY3. I also have and use BK5.0 but only for transfer and data manipulation. Unfortunately John Steed took some assumptions as to how users would use a Check field on line entries and I used it to verify that I had seen or have a copy of the reference to that line record (ie) a birth record and I then displayed it by "VR" (meaning the vital records of the State or individual town/county) or "CR" (Meaning Church Record) etc. When converting to 5.0 it takes the VR Shown and makes all of my entries Born, Married & Died in the 1st town of my data base. In as much as my data base is over 9000 names I really didn't want to re-keyboard all of the VR info. I have told John about this but no response as yet. Along the same lines....re the various spellings of the family name, I have made all PARMENTER (The most common). I have asked John Steed to consider a utility program that substitutes vowels in data entry so that various spellings can be entered and searched. (ie) REED-READ, FOOT-FOOTE, SMITH-SMITHE etc. Again no response....I know he is busy and covered over with orders for BK5.0, So time will tell................ I hope that this is what you wanted........and get it the first time...I am not going to re-keyboard it. AND If there are any wise-guys out there .....there are KNOW mispellinggs in this msg.
