    MUDGE: Jarvis, called to the Court 4 (10) 1638. The name
           appears at Hartford [Conn.], 1640.

From MAYFLOWER MARRIAGES by Susan E. Roser, GPC, 1990:

    Samuel Doty married Charity MUDGE. (Samuel is son of Isaac who
           is son of Edward, a Mayflower passenger.)
    Ebenezer Pratt married Mehitable MUDGE (Ebenezer is son of John
           Pratt, who was son of Mary Priest Pratt, who was daughter
           of Degory Priest, a Mayflower passenger.) [Note: These
           marriages are also cited in MAYFLOWER BIRTHS AND DEATHS by
           the same author. In there are hints that the Dotys may have
           been living at or about Oyster Bay, Long Island, N.Y.]

    MUDGE: James, one of the "flower of Essex" under Capt. Lothrop,
             k[illed] by the Ind[ians] 18 Sept. 1675 at Bloody Brook.
           Jervis, Wethersfield, 1643, m. 1649 the wid. of Abraham
             Elsen, but aft. rem. to New London, and there d. early in
             1652, leav. that wid. and two s. prob. b. of a former w.
           John, Malden [MA.], perhaps s. of Thomas, was a soldier of
             Moseley's comp. Dec. 1675, freem. 1690, by w. Ruth had
             John, b. 15 Oct. 1685, prob. d. soon; John, again, 21
             Nov. 1686; Martha, 25 Oct. 1691. His w. d. 17 Oct. 1733,
             and he d. 12 days aft.
           Micah, Northampton [MA.], 1670, s. of Jervis, m. that yr.
             Mary, d. of George Alexander, rem. to Northfield, among
             early proprietors thence driven, 1675, and again, 1690,
             in the Ind. wars, rem. to Lebanon [CT.?], a. 1698 again
             to Hebron; had Ebenezer; Moses; Eliz.; Mary; Thankful;
             Susanna; and Sarah, not all liv. to 1721, when he made
             his will.
           Moses, Sharon [CT?] 1696, br. of the preced. Caulkins,
             Hist. of N. L. 269 [New London?]
           Thomas, Malden 1658, had Samuel, b. in May of that yr. and,
             perhaps, Martha, w. of Rev. Michael Wigglesworth. A
             George Mudge d. 25 Nov. 1685, at Malden or Charlestown.

From COMPENDIUM OF EARLY MOHAWK FAMILIES by Maryly B. Penrose, GPC,
    1990:

    MUDGE: Abraham, (of the town of Florida [N.Y.]), will dated
           2/22/1804; probated 6/14/1808. Legatees: wife, Sarah; sons,
           Abraham, Ebenezer and Jonathan; daus. Anne (wife of Levi
           Skinner), Dinah (wife of Mathew Dorr), Sibyll (wife of Dr.
           Syrus Berry), and Lois (wife of Benjamin Commins).
           Executor: son, Jonathan. Witnesses: George Getman, William
           Earnest, Jacob Fuller. (WMC56:158)

    MUDGE: The 1790 census of Montgomery County, N.Y [then *much*
           bigger than today] listed Abraham, Ebenezer, Joshua,
           Reuben, and Samuel Mudge, all in the town of Mohawk, with
           various family member numbers.

Hello JEFF!

OK...best information I have about Charity MUDGE is that she was probably 
the daughter (only child) of Jarvis MUDGE and Jane HAWXHURST.  If so, she 
was born in abt 1701 at Hempstead, LI, NY.  Jarvis (1672-1741) may have 
been the son of Moses MUDGE (1652-1671) and Mary (unknown name) of Oyster 
Bay, LI, NY, and was probably a grandson of Jarvis or Jervis (1608-1653), 
brother to Thomas, to whom virtually all American MUDGE families trace 
their ancestry.  I know nothing further about Jane HAWXHURST, and that 
branch of the MUDGE family died with Charity, assuming that she was 
actually an only child.  CAUTION...this consists primarily of rumors that I 
invented, but is based on best guess at this point. DO NOT rely on the 
truthfulness of this as I have no primary documentation to prove or 
disprove any of it.  I will let you know when I have something more 
concrete.
