MORRILL by Jeff Linscott Wed July 31 1991 ------------------------------- I have two books; "Genealogical Register of the First Settlers of New England" and "American Marriage Records Before 1699" that both contain some MORRILL info. From Gen. Reg. of ... : MORRILL, ABRAHAM, Cambridge 1632, mmember of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co. in 1638, removed to Salisbury, and there died about 1662. His son, SAMUEL, Harvard College 1766, who died 21 Sep 1785 ae 41, was father of Governor David L. Morrill and Judge Samuel Morrill, of New Hampshire. ISAAC, Roxbury, freeman 1633, was born in England in 1588, came to New England as early as 1632, and died 18 Oct 1662, aged 74, a member of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co. in 1638. MORRELL, John & Lysbell MORRELL, 31 Aug 1659, Boston, Ma. MORRILL, Abraham & Sarah CLEMENT, 10 Jun 1645, Roxbury, Ma. MORRILL, Jacob & Susanna WHITTIER, 15 Jul 1674, Roxbury, Ma. I also have a book "Early Massachusetts Marriages Prior to 1800 of Plymouth County, Second Book" but there were no MORRILLs listed in it. Maybe the "First Book" would have some but I do not have it yet. And last but maybe not least, my book "Planters of the Commonwealth", a book of emigrants to New England from 1620 - 1640, contains the following: 1623, [ship] KATHERINE, Joseph Stratton, Master, one hundred and eighty tons, sent out by Sir Ferdinando Gorges with 'sundrie passengers' including 'six gentlemen and divers men to do his labour and other men with their families.' Arrived at Weymouth [Mass.] one of the passengers: Rev. WILLIAM MORRELL 1632, [ship] LYON, William Pierce, Master, sailed from London June 22 and arrived September 16 at Boston. 'He brought one hundred and twenty three passengers, whereof fifty children, all in health. They had been twelve weeks aboard and eight weeks from Land's End.' passengers: Isaac MORRILL, of Hatfield Broadoak, Essex County, England, settled in Roxbury, Ma. With him were "Mrs. Morrill, Sarah Morrill, Katherine Morrill". ------- Researching: CHILTON (Mayflower), CROSS, DOTY (Mayflower), DOWNER, HATCH, HOLBROOK, HOWLAND (Mayflower), LINSCOTT, McDONALD, MORTON, SHERMAN, THOMPSON, TILDEN, TILLEY (Mayflower), WALKER, WHITCOMB & WOODMAN, all of Mass. & Maine in 1600s to present.
