The reference I have is "History of Stratford Genealogies" p 1246.
  It names:Joseph, b England, settled first at Concord, MA, came to 
Fairfield in
1644 with Rev. John Jones. He m Fairfield in 1648, Mary, widow of 
Benjamin
Turney. Inventory of estate dated Nov 22, 1686.
      2 Children: Joseph  & Phebe

No mention of a prior wife.  Somewhere (but I can't it right now) I 
found
mention that wife was "Mary, dau of William BATEMAN." I'll keep 
checking
for that reference.

     Marylou, we exchanged messagees in July and August.  The last I
heard you had returned from vacation and would be getting back to me
with some information on Joseph Middlebrook and his 3 wives.
     Previously I asked if you had been able to find your other
references to Joseph Middlebrook d.1686 Fairfield, CT. m. Mary (widow
of Benj. Turney)?  You had mentioned "History of Stratford Genealogies"
p 1246.  Who was this by and when was it published?
     Could you send me a copy of the title page (marked with the
publ.date and total pages in the book) and page 1246 from that book.
