Mead Family Search by Hubert A. Mead Fri Dec 20 1991 ------------------------------- I am looking for anyone with Ira Mead (born 1807, Vermont) in their line. I have only been able to find an IGI file for Vermont that lists a Ira Mead born to Abner Mead and Amelia on 26 May 1779 in Ruthland Co., Ruthland Twp. Another lead might be an Ira Mead who married Cornelia Van Vlack in 1826 in Duchess Co., NY. Unable at this time to check with our local FHC, (Closed for renovation). Am hoping that someone recognizes my GGfather. A possibility exists that he was married twice. Ira Mead , b1807 Vermont M 1856 Mary A. Hilton b1837 MI. I saw a message from you to Bob Lockwood about a Lockwood in Monroe Co. and have an Ebenezer Lockwood married to Eliza Phippen McIntosh (2nd marriage for my maternal GGM) and living in Dundee, Monroe Co., MI in the 1920 U.S. Census. BTW, I was raised in Dundee. Back to Ira. Because Ira was 30 years older than Mary the thought has occured that it could have been his 2nd marriage. As I said in the original message there was a record of an Ira marrying Cornelia VanVlack in Duchess Co. NY in 1826. Mary's family had moved to Erie, Monroe Co., MI from Delaware Co., NY. If there is no record of a marriage in Monroe Co. then I'll have to back-track to Northwest Twp., Williams Co., OH. Mary's family were living there during the 1850 Census or maybe Mary returned to Delaware Co., NY to visit some of the other Hilton families that remained in that area. I appreciate the information and will keep in mind that you have the marriage records for Monroe Co. from 1818 to 1878. I may ask at a later date about some great uncles that the family lost along the way. -=Hugh=- ___ * SLMR 2.0 * Researching: Mead,Bordt,Hilton,Fleming,Gumtow & McIntosh --- Maximus 2.00 * Origin: Colonial Family Research (517) 882-0717 Lansing, MI (1:159/525)
