McGUIRE MaGUIRE by Sheila Macauley Tue Apr 07 1992 ------------------------------- I have 2 volumes of MISSING FRIENDS which contain notices Irish immigrants put in the Boston Pilot when looking for their relatives. Volume 1 covers 1831-1850. There was no Felix Maguire-McGuire listed. There was one entry for a Bridget Maguire: June 1, 1844-Of Michael Maguire, a native of Knockninny, Co. Fermanagh. When last heard from, about 2 years since, he was in Albany, N.Y., from whence he is supposed to have gone West. Altogether he is about 8 years from home. Any information respecting him will be thankfully received by his sister, BRIDGET, directed to No. 44 Friend Street, Boston, Ms.- There was another entry in Volume #2 for a BRIDGET MCGUIRE- June 14, 1851-Of BRIDGET MCGUIRE from County Leitrim, parish Cloone, townland Cankell. When last heard from was in New Orleans and resided with Ann Bryon. Any information respecting her will be thankfully received by CATHERINE MCGUIRE, care of Patrick McLAUGHLIN, No 49 India St., Providence, R.I.---The last entry in Vol. 2 was --Dec. 17, 1853- Of JOHN MCGUIRE, from the townland of Artogher, parish of Killenagh, Co. Cavan, who landed in New York, June 1851. When last heard from (Nov.1, 53) was at work in Lasalle, Ill. Information of him will be gratfully received by his wife, BRIDGET MCGUIRE. This is a wonderful source for Irish ancestors as many entries give county, parish, townland, and names of family members. I was lucky and found this info for my family listed in one of the books.
