N. Y.  by A. Hatfield Jr., taken from a manuscript of a Rev.
Theodore A. Leggett DD, has been reprinted in the July 1913, New York
Historical and Genealogical Record. The full text is an excellent source
for information of Gabriel Leggett's descendants in America.

I don't think I am directly related to Jesse. I guess the name originated
from the word "legate" for ambassador or envoy.  I have seen the name 
spelled three different ways in one document. Here is a list of two dozen 
early (before Revolution) arrivals. I would appreciate any information on 
any of them.
