LEAVITT family by Sandy Clunies 23 Feb 1990 ------------------------------------------------ Please mail to me (6 Briardale Ct., Derwood, MD 20855) your connections/queries on the LEAVITT family and I'll mail you what I have. Basically, it's just 3 generations of early LEAVITTs to NH: 1. Immigrant Thomas LEAVITT b. c. 1616 prob. Yorkshire, ENG d. 28 Nov 1696 Hampton NH m. c. 1644 to Isabella BLAND, widow Francis ASTIN/AUSTIN dau. Joshua & Joanna BLAND (she had perhaps 3 ASTIN ch. prior to LEAVITT mar.) There were 4 sons born: Aretas, Hezron, James, and 2. Sgt. John LEAVITT, b. c. 1648 Hampton NH d. c. 1726/27 m. 28 May 1701 to Deliverance ROBIE, b. 17 Feb 1685 to John ROBIE & Anne--, wid. George CORLISS 3. Deliverance LEAVITT, b. 6 or 16 May 1719 Hampton NH d. 31 Oct 1736 m. 7 Nov 1734 Jeremiah CLOUGH Sr. Unique dates here - Sgt. John didn't first marry until age 53, and then married a 17 year old girl and only one child is born 18 years later when he is 71 (?!) - I have only copied from secondary sources (several) and this is *not* your typical pioneer N.E. family data! This is all that seems to be known from such sources as: Libby, Noyes, Thornton "Gen. Dict. of ME & NH"; Dow's "History of Hampton NH". I do have copies of both Thomas and Sgt. John's wills as printed in "Probate Records of Province of NH", and a NEHGR article postulating on the English origins of the LEAVITT/LEVET family. * Origin: GreyEagle_Point/346 <* Derwood, MD *> (1:109/312.346) Date: Sun May 26 1991 12:23:31 From: Lou Nordle To: All Subj: LEAVITT ELLIOT Attr: genealogy ------------------------------- I am not a member of this group but saw the following in a small local newspaper and knew some of you were researching these names. Hope it helps. The National Association of LEAVITT Families will hold it's 8th Annual Family Reunion on June 22-23 in Hampton NH for all LEAVITT family members and friends.
