HICKOX by James Hickox Sun Aug 25 1991 ------------------------------- I have a couple of references concerning the Hickox family in Canandaigua, N.Y. but not a clue as to a Carolina Matilda Hickox or specifics on her parents. Here is what I do have: Levi Hickox, son of Stephen was born in Granville, Mass 27 April 1751 and died in Canandaigua in 1811. Married Sybil Moore and produced five children...Aaron, George, Levi, Anna and Bradford. Levi enlisted in Captain Ball's company in 1775 as a private. Aaron, 1st son of Levi moved from Canandaigua to Ohio and had a son Lyman who lived to the age of 91. George, 2nd son of Levi married Eunice Holcomb. They had two children...Orpha, who died in 1903 and Michal S. Hickox who was married 29 December 1830. They had a granddaughter Myra Durand who was born Canandaigua, N.Y. The data is confusing at this point as it would appear that Myra married a Clare L. Rotzel 19 October, 1907. The reference is a C.L. Rotzel of Minneapolis about 50 years ago. Obviously, there were members of the Hickox clan in this New York town and I hope this might provide a small clue. What is your Hickox relationship?? JH, Houston, Tx. I have just looked at my Hickok/Hickox genealogy and found 13 pages with reference to Starr beginning with one of my Great Uncle's sons, Daniel who married (1) Lucy Starr in November of 1767. She was the daughter of Captain Thomas and Mary (Sherman) Starr. She died in April of 1795 (age 46), and he then married (2) Mercy Starr, daughter of Captain Joseph and Mary (Benedict) Starr. The last reference is one concerning Abigail Bronson Hickox who married Orrin Starr 12 September 1823. They had 11 children including: Malinda, Minerva, Maria, Heman, Mary Elizabeth, Alonzo, Hiram, Emma Louisa, Edna, Clapp Raymond, and Marion Abigail. I also have almost three pages of copy on Bulkeley starting with Baron Robert De Bulkeley, Lord of the Manor of Bulkeley in County Palatine of Chester England during the rein of King John 1167-1216 A.D.
