GLOVER on LONG ISLAND

The family GLOVER is not one of the families that has a documented
lineage. However in Vol. I Genealogists of Long Island Families,
there are 9, and in Vol II, there are 20, individuals cited with that
surname.

The listings are generally ones of individual mariages into families
that are documented in detail. The closest I found was : " David[4]
King was in the Southold Milita in 1715; he m. (2nd) 10 Oct. 1731,
Deborah[4] GLOVER ( William[3], Lieut. Samuel[2], Charles[1], b. 15
Mar 1715-6." Their children were Joseph , who d. in1818, & Jeremiah
b. in  Sept 1737."  If Deborah was a 4th generation, then Charles was
in Southold in 1675 or earlier. A Lydia Grover m . Johanathan King 29
Feb 1752. She was probably born abt. 1733.; she died in 1828 in her
95 th year, again Southold.
 
On 25 Aug 1897 a J. Wheeler GLOVER m. Sara Albertson.
A Joseph GLOVER of Oyster Bay mar. Hannah Edwards in 1732
In Southold, a Daniel[5] Wiggins b. in 1756 mar. (2nd) Oct 25, 1787 a 
Mary Glover b. in 1766 and d. Feb 15, 1880. She was the dau. of 
Ezekiel and Polly (Terry) GLOVER.
A Mary Thorn m. John Glover on May 8, 1751
A Mary Adelaide[7] Tre(a)dwell b 10 Dec. 1818 m. Russel GLOVER. The 
had 11 Children.

Many L.I. families are inter-related. I am related to the Albertson,
the Wiggins, and the Tre(a)dwell families, hence I am related in some
fashion tho GLOVER. --Are you from that line? In Another reference "
History of Southold, L.I., Its First Century", by Rev. Epher
Whitaker, D.D. 1811, I found a Charles GLOVER, & a Samuel GLOVER,
they are listed among 138 early settlers. The exact time is not
cited, I surmise it is about 1640- 1672.

The Charles GLOVER above may be the same as
Charles[1] cited as the father of Samuel[2] in the liniage of 
Deborah[4]. The time frame of 1640-1672 is about that that I guessed 
for Charles[1]---- which was 1675 of before.

Incidentally, Southhold in the 1600s was really a colony of, and
was governed by New Haven Conn.
