There is also a Dorothy Davis Smith in Missouri that is trying to catalogue all Davis's. An astronomical task! You can write her at: DAVIS CLEARING HOUSE 1916 N. Signal Hills Kirkwood, Mo. 63122 I wrote her several months ago. It took awhile but she responded with quite a bit of information on the names I was researching. If possible I'd like to take you up on your offer. I would like to find the ship that my great grandfather, John E. Davis 1833-1900 came from Wales on. Please tell me what records you looked at and what John Davises you found that were close in each. It is possible that the name may have been spelled DAVIES in good Welsh tradition. In the process if you find anything else about the two potential families I found in PA please let me know. Here is what I have: DAVIS, PRICHARD, JENKINS On my DAVIS line all I know about their immigration to this country is that my John E. DAVIS b. 1833 Rhondda Valley, Wales came to PA in 1841 with his father John DAVIS. He lived in Luzerne, Schuylkill, and Lakawana Counties. He married Janet E. or Gwennette JENKINS (1833 Wales- 1888 Colo.). He was in the Union Army. He moved to Colorado about 1879 and died there in 1900. I have found a couple DAVIS families in PA in 1850 that might be mine. Does anyone know about either of them? 1850 Census, Schuylkill Co., Cass Township, Family 919 919 John E.
