d'Autremont by Tom Freund Wed Nov 28 1990 ------------------------------- The D'AUTREMONT family immigrated to the US in 1792 after Hubert D'AUTREMONT, a Royalist, was guillotined in the French Revolution. His widow, Marie (D'OHET) D'AUTREMONT and her three sons Louis Paul, Alexander Hubert and Auguste Francois settled in NY state on the Chenango River (near the present town of Morris). Later after a brief stay at Asylum (a PA settlement of French Royalists) the family moved to Angelica, NY (Louis Paul returned to France). Alexander Hubert D'AUTREMONT's son Louis Paul D'AUTREMONT eventually moved from Angelica and settled in Richmond, IA. (Alexander is my gggg-grandfather and Louis is my ggg-grandfather). Of Hubert D'Autremont it is speculated that he had at least three brothers (this is from information in correspondence between Marie D'Autremont and her son Louis Paul). Alexander D'Autremont b.
