CRIST in PA-MD-IA by George Prell 01 May 1990 ------------------------------------------------ My wife Louise is a CRIST so we are researching the family. We have a pretty complete picture from John CRIST, her GGGrandfather, b. 30 Oct 1778, d. 14 Nov 1856 in Burkittsville, Frederick Co., MD to the present. The family moved to Iowa in 1870. From "History of Frederick Co., MD and other sources we have the record of Jacob Adam CRIST who immigrated from Germany via Rotterdam to Philadelphia on the "Robert and Alice", arriving 24 Sep 1742 with his brother Johann Georg CRIST. He went first to Berks Co., PA, then to York Co., where his wifes' relatives lived, in 1755. He fought in the Revolution. This book and other sources detail part of their decendants, but not enough to connect with John CRIST above, though family tradition holds that they are related. Any help would be appreciated. If you are interested, I could send you a copy of a 27 page history written by my wifes' Grandfather, Charles H. CRIST. It tells about a number of Civil War incidents (they lived near Harpers Ferry), and has a lot of Crist genealogy.
