COWGILL by Dorothy Sminkey Wed Feb 05 1992 ------------------------------- This is embarrassing, but quite awhile back I sent a message to someone regarding Ellen Cowgill who is my ancestor via her dau. Jennet, who married Bernard Lane. I mentioned that I have a copy of photocopy of Ellen's money bag that supposedly belonged to her as mentioned in Cowgill History compile by Beatrice Eleanora Cowgill, and that I would send it. I did make a copy to mail, which got filed away and forgotten till recently when I came across it, but could not find the message I had responded to with an address. If you would like to have this, please let me know. The only other Cowgill info I have is what is found in Colonial Families of Phila. and few pages of Beatrice Cowgill book. The conclusion seems to be that Thomas Stackhouse was not the brother of Ellen. Have you learned anything regards Ellen's maiden name? In response to your recent message, the following addresses are ones that you might want to try for info or poss photo of the "Lamb" : Mystic Seaport Museum, 39 Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic, Conn. 06355 - Mariners' Museum, 100 Museum Drive, Newport News, Va. 23601 - Peabody Maritime Museum, Essex St., Salem, Mass. 01970. Hope you have some luck with this. Would be interested to hear how you make out on this. Next time I get to Library Of Congress I'll check in case anything is to be found there.
