CORMIER/FOURNIER by Annette Christensen Tue Nov 20 1990 ------------------------------- I am in need of some real assistance on the surnames CORMIER and FOURNIER. The story goes something like this: My grandmother IDA M. CORMIER was not a very healthy young lady. seems she had this heart ailment. She fell for a guy named FABIAN CLEMENT and they married, much to the dimay of her parents ERNEST CORMIER and EMILY (FOURNIER) CORMIER. They were so upset, in fact, they refused to have any more to do with her or her new hubby. The family tie was severed. Ida and Joseph, naturally, wanted children. The doctors said not a good idea. They went ahead anyway, and my mother VERNA MARIE CLEMENT was born. Unfortunately, Ida died shortly thereafter. Sad tale, eh? Anyway, hubby married again, but never spoke of Ida (at least not that mom ever heard). The problem now is where do I start? Fabian is dead, we know of no relatives, although we think they are still around. I have no way to access any of the census records from Maine, that I know of, but wondered if someone else does. I would really appreciate some assistance from the folks in the Bangor Maine area. ERNEST CORMIER was born in Canada, probably New Brunswick. I have a copy of IDA M. CORMIERs birth certificate and it states the ERNEST CORMIER was a canoe builder in Old Town, Maine. EMILY FOURNIER was also born in Canada, again probably New Brunswick. IDA M. CORMIER was born Feb. , 1917 in Old Town, Maine. If anyone can help, I would be Grateful. I don't see any way of getting to Maine in the near future. I am also willing to help anyone looking in the Rochester, New York area. Any help, pointers, suggestions are welcome. Regards, Annette Christensen 332 Goodburlet Rd. Henrietta, New York 14467
