BUELL by Fred-Diana Bienvenu Sat May 18 1991 ------------------------------- We are not involved with the FOOTE line, but will try to answer some of your questions about Abigail BUELL whose descendent married into the CHAPPELL line: i) Abigail BUELL b. 26 Mar 1702 in Lebanon CT, m. Stephen STRONG (son of Jedediah) on 16 Jan 1718 in Lebanon, and died 24 Oct 1788 in Litchfield CT. They are parents of twelve children, including Daniel STRONG. Our reference states that five of the children died of "black throat" within ten days of each other. Her father was ii) John BUELL, b. 17 Feb 1671 in Killingworth CT, and was one of the first settlers and pioneers in Litchfield in 1721. He married Mary LOOMIS in Windsor CT on 20 Nov 1695 and d. 9 Apr 1746 in Litchfield. His father was iii) Samuel BUELL, b. 2 Sep 1641 in Windsor CT, m. 13 or 18 Nov 1662 in Windsor to Deborah GRISWOLD and d. 11 Jul 1720 in Killingworth. His father was iv) William BUELL, b. about 1610 in Chesterton HUN ENG, migrated to America about 1630, m. Mary POST (possibly her second marriage) on 18 Nov 1640 in Windsor CT. He died 23 Nov 1681 in Windsor. There is much more information about each of these generations in Albert Welles' book (printed 1881) "History of the BUELL Family in England and in America" and this will be found on pages 23-28, 33-34 and 50. If you are unable to obtain a copy of this book, we can arrange photocopying for you. Also, if you are interested in going any further with these lines, we have received more information about the GRISWOLD line, taking Deborah's lineage back a few more generations. Please let us know if that will be of help. Unfortunately, our pages from Welles do not go far into lines well removed from ours, and or a quick perusal, we do not have information about Anna BUELL (b.1799), who m. a CHAPPELL. No doubt, you would find her in the book if you were able to locate it. We will be happy to help out further if possible and we will certainly be pleased to hear from you if/when any progress can be made on the CHAPPELLs in ENG. It arrived at our BBS when we were away for a few days and we have finally got around to reading through the archived messages from that period. Sorry to take so long to get back to you. See also our message this date to Steve Kyner. Yes, we are related - but not through the Timothy BUELL mentioned in the message you quoted. The link goes back a little further. Can you get hold of the book "History of the BUELL Family in England and in America" by Albert Welles, pub. 1881. You will find lots of information about your line, which in summary looks like this: William BUELL (migrant to American colonies) m. Mary (POST?) Samuel BUELL (b.2 Sep 1641), m. 13 or 18 Nov 1662 at Windsor CT to Deborah GRISWOLD. He d. 11 Jul 1720 in Killingworth CT. Samuel BUELL (b.20 Jul 1663 in Windsor), m. 1686 at Killingworth to Judith STEVENS. He d.2 Nov 1732 in Killingworth. Mehitable BUELL (b.8 May 1705 in Killingworth), m. Elnathan SMITH on 18 Feb 1730 in Killingworth. Our line comes through the first Samuel BUELL to son William to his son Timothy, b.24 Oct 1711. Our Timothy (who m. Hannah BRADFORD) would be the second cousin of your Mehitable. You will find that there is more information about the GRISWOLDs and STEVENS also in the book. If you are unable to locate a copy of the book, let us know and we can post you photocopies of our copies. However, we suspect that you will be able to find a copy closer than ours in Australia! There is more current information out about the BUELLs - there was a new book published last year by Nathan D. BUELL about the BUELL line. We have not yet seen the book, but would be interested in knowing whether it has provided interesting information. Also, we have some other recent data sent by another distant cousin regarding the GRISWOLDs. We will be pleased to hear from you, and be sure to let us know if we can send you more information via airmail. We are always glad to be able to exchange information and ideas. If you need our mailing address in the future, it is P.O. Box 382, Myrtleford, Victoria 3737, Australia. Fred-Diana. --- Maximus 2.00 * Origin: Heritage OZ - for genealogy in Melbourne OZ (3:633/372)
