BELCHER FAMILY by Sandy Clunies Thu Nov 28, 1991 ------------------------------- The earliest BELCHER family to New England was that of Gregory BELCHER, b. in Aston, Warwick ENG c. 1606, was in the colony as early as 1637, and was granted 52 acres at Mt. Wollaston (later known as Braintree, MA) in 1639 for which he paid 3 shillings per acre. He settled there, was made Freeman, Selectman, and was a farmer. He d. 25 Nov 1674, leaving widow Catherine. His estate was valued at 629-pounds. He left 7 children, including 5 sons (Josiah, John, Moses, Samuel, Joseph) from whom you possibly descend.
