Yes it was a slip that I addressed the previous message to "Taylor" Looks like we are chasing different Bamfords, at least on this side of the Atlantic. My great grandfather was born in Newbury Mass. in 1811. I have not made all the connections but it appears at this date that my line runs back to Maine and before that New Hampshire, starting in approximately 1695. I do have information on Bamfords on the east coast from a survey I took (mail) a couple of years ago. If you are interested, I can check my records for any names you may be researching. Also there is a book: "The Bamford Saga", written by Louise Bamford of New Brunswick, with extensive information on Bamfords in N.H. Maine and the Maritime provinces, again, I can check that for you. There were a number of later Bamfords (post 1850) who settled in northern Mass. when the textile mills were in their prime. I suspect that many of these may have come from the Manchester area as I believe Manchester was (possibly still is) a textile center. I have no idea where my ancestors came from in England and once I determine that, I may wish to draw on whatever information you may have in the "old country". It is ironic that I started out to trace my Bamford line and have not had anywhere near the sucess I have had with my Harris and Pearson lines, both of which I can trace back to England in the early 1600's and before. Other family names connected with my BAMFORDS are: CONNOLLEY/ROBERTS/THORNLEY/BOARDMAN/SEDDON/GREGORY - all in ENGLAND. I know of two family emigrants to CANADA - two sons of MARY ANN (BAMFORD) HOUGHTON, the sister of my grandmother, ANN JANE (BAMFORD) CONNOLLEY. Their names were SAMUEL (born 1887) and WALTER (born 1889?), From SAM's daughter, VENETTA TAYLOR, I understand the brothers came to CANADA together, as "Home Boys", when SAM was about 10 years old. They were put to work on different farms in ONTARIO. VENETTA tells me her father only saw his brother twice after they arrived in CANADA and that WALTER went to work in the mines.
