A family history of Jacksons (my grandmother) includes some poorly documented information regarding Bakers from Shenandoah Co who married into the Jacksons. Are these yours? Family Attr: GENEALOGY ------------------------------- Does anyone know anything about the family that owned or perhaps still owns the Baker Chocolate Company? Years ago my father took some notes of a conversation he had had with my mother's father, my grandfather, Charles Charron Cole. My grandfather said that his sister married Herman Wagner, a meat dealer, and that they lived in Nyack, New York. Eva Elnora (Cole) and Herman Wagner supposedly had 3 children, a dau. Evelyn, who was married and resided in Westfield, NY, another son or dau. who was married and lived in Bradford NY and a third child, a dau. named "Tootie" Wagner who "married heir to the Baker Chocolate fortune 26-June-1948." I've been using these notes as the basis for my family history research on my mother's family and many of the things my father had in his notes have turned out to be accurate, such as the fact that Eva Elnora Cole's married name was Wagner and lived in Nyack, New York. On the probate record of my great grandfather, one of the daughters listed as a heir to the estate, was Eva E. Wagner who resided at Nyack, New York. I feel, however, that perhaps the Tootie recorded in my father's notes may have been Eva's grand-daughter, and not her daughter, since Eva Elnora Cole was born in 1873, it seems unlikely that she would have had a child that got married in 1948, since in 1948, Eva Elnora Cole would have been about 75 years old. I suppose it's possible that Tootie married late in life, but most of the time women get married in their 20's. Anyway, I learned from another researcher on this Baker Chocolate Company family, that their name was Baker, so I would appreciate any information on the Baker family that founded the Baker Chocolate Company. --- TosScan(q) 1.00 * Origin: TMS/JFF Here!
