Your large package of Archer material arrived today. I didn't realize that Hannah Freeman's Archer descendants were so numerous, but Grace Hildy Croft's extensive work on the Benson Family descendants makes the task considerably easier. I will spend time going over each of the families and adding material that I can find. I will send you copies of the results after I have finished. I did notice one family that can be added to Grace Croft's work. Seth Archer, son of Gideon and Ruth Cuth (Curtis) Archer, born 1833 and was a physician and baptist minister is undoubtedly the Seth C. Archer age 47 Physician listed in the 1880 census in the Village of Attica, Wyoming Co., New York [ED 197 p. 39] with wife Harriette R, age 45, and daughter May Adele, age 10. Seth is listed in the census as born in NY with father born in RI and mother born in NH. I believe the father's birthplace is erroneously listed as RI and should have been given as NY. Variances of this type are not uncommon in census records. I would ask an additional favor of you to help in going over these families. A few of the relevant pages of Grace Croft's work were omitted because there were so many families involved. If you could copy and send me pages 518-525, 529-533, and 542-544, I will be able to include all of the descendant families. Again, thanks for the considerable assistance you have furnished for researching these Archer and related families. =Don Badger, P.O. Thanks very much for the material from Water Under the Bridge. I didn't have copies of the sketches of the Horner brothers, although Marcia Miller did send some details and mentioned that they were included in that book. I was able to buy a copy of the Cornerstones book and wonder if the Water Under the Bridge book is still available for purchase. Is there a Historical Society in Van Buren Township that might still have copies available? I checked the list of Freeman names from the Michigan surname index and it confirms that there isn't anyone listed besides Marcia Miller who is researching the John Freeman of Sudbury, Massachusetts line of Freemans. That really isn't very surprising, as most of the numerous descendants in Michigan are not active researchers and don't even know of their connection to the Freeman family. I am still getting copies of material ready to send you, and they should be on their way shortly. In answer to your earlier question whether I have ever lived in Michigan, the answer is no, but I have done quite a bit of research in Michigan census records, county histories, and vital records that are on microfilm and microfiche. I will be going over your Archer/Hodges/Scofield material in greater detail along with the material George Archer sent and will keep in touch. ==Don Badger, P.O.
