Who we are
|
We are a group
of quilters who are connected with others quilters. Our aim is to teach
each other new and old techniques. We like to show what we have done
and what we can do. We meet on the
second Monday of every month from 6pm to 7:30pm. Our year runs
from September to August. The club fee
is $20.00 per year. |
Name Change
|
It’s official!!
We are going back to the old club name of Connected Quilters. Also Mary Beth
& Toni will be distributing name place cards that will be propped in
front of where you are sitting. Now we won’t have to guess everyone’s name. |
Papers handed out
|
Toni & Mary
Beth handed out a questionnaire form & asked that we all fill out these papers
about ourselves. Everyone will get a copy of everyone’s sheet. Birth date is
included on these sheets, but you don’t need to include the year you were
born. Also a list of
possible projects was handed out & discussed. We were asked to select
which of these projects interested us & add any others not listed that we

Club Exclusive Kits
|
There are 2
Club Exclusive kits available. ·
Mary
Beth has a Ghost Pillow. It overlaps in the back for easy cleaning. The price
for this kit is $11.00. ·
Toni
has several Trick-or-Treat Bags with items such as ghosts, bats, spiders
appliquéd on. The price for this kit
is $5.00. For those that
have signed up, the kits will be ready for pick up on Tuesday, September 18th
at the store. If you did not sign up & still would like to, please email
Mary Beth or Toni & let them know. |
Kits for Points
|
A project
completion sheet will be kept by Mary Beth & Toni. Points will be awarded
for various things throughout the year, such as completing one of the club
exclusive kits. After a certain number of points are accumulated, prizes will
be awarded at the end of the year. Also if you
bring in a completed kit, then you will receive a certificate for 10% off your
next kit. Only 1 certificate can be redeemed per kit, though. And these can
only be used for Club Exclusive kits. ·
Bring
in completed Binder Cover made with your own materials & get 1 point. Use
Quilter’s Connection fabric and get 2 points. ·
Bring
in a homemade Halloween bag next month, get 1 point. ·
Bring
in the Halloween Pillow kit, get 2 points PLUS a certificate for 10% off
one club exclusive kit purchased. ·
Bring
in the Halloween bag from Toni’s kit, get 2 points PLUS a certificate for 10%
off one club exclusive kit purchased. (So you could get two 10% off certificates …. Yeah!!) |
Demo
|
Ruth Ann
demonstrated 4- patch Stacked Posies. The fabric used 12-18” repeats &
depending on how you lay the 4 identical printed squares of fabric, different
images/blocks are created. Amazing!! Pam has the pattern in the store for
$8.50, if you are interested. |
Show & Tell
|
Lynn – Double-sided
table runner (Patriotic & Christmas), triangles formed into a circular
shaped table centerpiece, and flower pounding. Susan – Flower
pounding Carol – 2 Table
runners using charms and a curling iron caddy w/teflon material inside. Julie – Purse,
bag using Fons & Porter pattern, Egg Money Quilt from Eleanor Burns, and
“Square Dance”, which was a rail fence with hole in the middle that you could
add any shape such as star or hearts. Roxy – Bats
table runner & the completed snowman mini quilt using the flip-flop ruler Mary Beth – Toni – 3”
squares quilt she designed herself from a class that others also took Lori – Harvest
Moon table runner from a kit she got from the shop & Harvest Blessing
wall quilt from Heart to Art book Val – table
runner, pumpkins wall hanging, and pumpkins appliqué towel. |

Toss – Carol won the fall colors. Next month:
Christmas Prints Snacks are back
by special demand. Lori & Val have volunteered to bring a dessert or
snack for October. |
HomeWork
|
Bring in 2
yards of fabric cut into 2.5” strips by width of fabric (WOF). These should
be a winter themed fabric, but NON-CHRISTMAS. Bring in a
homemade trick-or-treat bag for points. Bring in a CHRISTMAS
Fat Quarter for fat quarter toss. Bring in any
completed projects for Show & Tell (Binder cover, trick or treat bag,
pillow, etc.) to show off and/or get points. **If you will
not be attending the October meeting & would like to participate in the
2.5” strip or Fat Quarter toss, please bring to the store or give to another
member prior to the October meeting. |
New Items in the
Store
|
The Featured
item for the month is Autumn Chain pattern. Pattern is $8.00 Along with the
pattern is the Autumn Journey Jelly Roll. There are 40 strips of fabric and
costs $30. Also available
is Charms. There’s 40 charms for $8.00. **Purchase any
of the featured items the night of our
club & receive 10% discount on them. |
Tip of the Month
|
Glue Based
Products, such as Heat & Bond, Wonder Under, Steam-A-Seam & Pellon seem to begin separating
after it’s been sitting for long periods of time. To protect & keep the
glue from drying out, place it in a plastic bag & seal the bag. |

Other Miscellaneous Things |
Julie had
mentioned snap tape could be used on the back of the pillow. She had seen it
mentioned in her Fons and Porter’s magazine. |
