Move It On Up

 

This is a dance where the partners face each other. 

The boys and the girls have slightly different steps so that they are always moving in the same direction.

Steps that are different are highlighted.

 

1-2.           Right foot forward - Right foot goes back in place

3-&-4. Right foot forward – right foot back - Left foot forward

5-6.           Left foot back - Left foot forward

7-&-8. Left foot back - Left foot forward – Left Foot back

 

(The next eight counts are the Charleston step)

1-2.      Right foot steps forward – left toe taps in front of right

3-4.           Left foot steps back – right toe taps behind left

5-6.      Right foot forward – left toe taps in front of right

7-8.      Left foot steps back – boys tap right toe behind left foot  / girls set right foot next to left (right foot takes weight) 

 

In the next eight counts the boys have a different step pattern that the girls

Boys

1-2.           Right heel taps forward  – right heel taps forward again

3-&-4. Right foot crosses behind left – Left foot steps to the left – Right foot crosses in front of left

5-6.           Left heel taps forward – Left heel taps forward again

7-&-8. Left foot crosses behind right – Right foot steps to the right – left foot steps beside the right foot

Girls

1-2.           Left heel taps forward – Left heel taps again

3-&-4. Left foot crosses behind right – Right foot steps to the right – left foot crosses in front of right

5-6.           Right heel taps forward– right heel taps forward again

7-&-8. Right foot crosses behind left – Left foot steps to the left – Right foot steps beside the left foot

 

During the next 8 counts the partners move up and down as follows:

 

1.                  One partner bents at the knees to slouch down while the other partner stands still

2.                  The partner who was standing still slouch down while the other partner moves back up

3.                  The partner who is up moves down, and the partner who is down moves up

4-8.      The partners keep going up and down for the remaining 5 counts

 

 

The dance then starts over
