Part 8

Dom stood at the doorframe of the old house looking out upon the street. Sunlight sliced thru the half open screen and sliced down on his face and fell into his eyes making him jerk backwards suddenly. The screen door cracked loudly as he let go.

Doms senses came back to him as he ran a rough hand over his slightly stubbly scalp. He had been just standing there with nothing really on his mind. He took a quick look at his watch and realized it was past time to start gettin ready. He still had to shower and dress. and still have time to pick up Carro.

Theyd been dating for a couple of months now and Dom found that he really liked her. She was funny, sensitive, smart, caringand damn well beautiful. Yeahhe liked her. Whats not to like about a perfect woman who spends her time trying to help innocent children? Thats how he first met Carro. She was working on a social case and he just happened to stumble into the picture of the 5 year old Matty Hamocks life.

At first, Carro had been disturbed and fiery, but once she realized that Dom was possibly the only positive influence in Mattys lifeshe had taken the time to get to know him and thus their relationship had begun.

She was a special woman all right. She deserved only the best. Dom wasnt sure whether he could give her that though. Of course he liked her and of course he got a hard on just looking at her but could he ever give her his love? The topic was still sore. His heart had yet to be sealed shut and he was afraid of letting it seal. As long as his heart remained openthere was hope. hope that someday.

God!! There he went again! How the hell was he supposed to get on with his life when she had yet to come back and it looked like she were never coming backif he didnt stitch that wound closed? It had been almost 8 months to the day, since she had left. He had to push it away. Think of Carro

--Maybe he could love Carro in the future.

--Just Maybe, he could..
