DJABOTE-DOUDOU N'DIAYE ROSE:"one of the most revered drum ensembles in the world". "Doudou N'Diaye Rose, aristic director, is a guardian of tradition, an untiring innovator and considered one of the greatest musicians of this century".
WAKAFRIKA-MANU DIBANGO: One of the coolest CDs ever. I first heard of this CD from a recording magazine. It was the favotite album of the year by a well known recording engineer. The recording is superb , Dibango is in top form, and it is a wonderful treat for the ears. .

FOLON...THE PAST-SALIF KEITA:Having the opportunity to See Salif perform live in New York several months ago was a high point in my life. This Malian superstar easily won the diverse crowd with material mostly from this CD. Some folks knew all of the words. what a great night.
LES AMBASSADEURS INTERNATIONALES WITH SALIF KEITA:A rerelease of 70s Salif. If you like Salif this is a 'must have'. Salif Keita spent many years in Mali performing and recording before becoming an international star. Enjoy!
DJELIKA-TOUMANI DIABATE:A classic Malian performance by three masters. Toumani-kora, Keletigui Diabate-balaphone, and Basekou Kouyate-ngoni. Beautiful.
NEW ANCIENT STRINGS-TOUMANI DIABATE and BALLAKE SISSOKO :I just heard this for the first time last week. Excellent- highly recomended by the more informed african music lovers.
KULANJAN-TOUMANI DIABATE AND TAJ MAHAL:We have all been waiting to hear this one. More after I see them live in Boston this weekend! OK I'm back from Boston. Although Africa Fete was a load of fun, this collaboration did not work for me. I'm deleting cover to save load time. Baba Maal ( page 2 ) however is highly recomended and although a well known Afro Pop act they brought the most integrity and esscense of Africa to the Fete.
PERCUSSION & SONGS FROM MALI-SOUNGALO COULIBALY :This has to be one of my favorite CDs of all time. The grooves are very 'deep'-quintessential Mali. If you like djembe, balaphone, kora, and other traditional Malian instruments played at their best you need this one!
HEARTBEAT SOUKOUS-VARIOUS ARTISTS:I love this CD. If you enjoy SOUKOUS music half as much as I do you will love it too. The energetic grooves, intertwining guitar riffs, and facinating vocal inflections of some of Africa's brightest stars make this one of the best compilations ever.
