| Foreword for this conflict In news reports (especially for Chechnya) it seems that Interior Ministry forces are sometimes reported as police and sometimes as soldiers, so the military definition for losses incurred can ble somewhat flawed. When there are mentioning of official sources, all are either from the local, pro-Russian administration in Chechnya or official Russian sources from Kremlin. According to the AFP, 15. april 2005, Russia has 80 000 troops in Chechnya. Of those were 30 000 under the control of the defence ministry and 50 000 under the control of the interior ministry and the Federal Security Service (FSB). |
