Conflict Scripts team up with
Smokin' Gnome Productions

August 2006
C.M. Byerly (Head of *Smokin Gnome Productions™):

"In 2006, Conflict Scripts forged a new partnership with Memphis based Smokin’ Gnome Productions™. SGP is in the process of filming ‘A Thousand Words’ and ‘Rook’ during 2006 and early 2007.  SGP has also agreed and is currently developing the script for the feature ‘Damned’ the precursor to Conflict Scripts ‘Tales of the Damned’ series of scripts for television".

Duane P. Craig (Member Conflict Scripts):

"It's been a month since I have met a new friend and contact in the film industry - namely the horror genre.  I had no idea the meeting was something of a door opening until the end of our three hour and fifteen minute dinner.

After sitting, eating and listening for all that time, Chris (head of SGP) and I were both floored constantly at the names mentioned that we could possibly come in contact with through our new friend.  Then, suddenly, the questions were posed to us:  You guys want to make a short film to really showcase your stuff?  Can you guys have it done by October first?

Chris and I were under the impression that it was just a short film to display our talent levels and to hopefully get us in thicker with the mix of insiders.  Well...we were wrong because a week later it was well explained to us that our short film is to be a segment in a major DVD release for spring 2007.  I'm not supposed to reveal the major names involved, but I promise you they are big enough that I am near sick with nervousness.

It would be sorely mistaken to take this short film for granted.  So, Chris and I are going to make an intense, all-out cringer of a short horror tale, and everyone will be able to either rent or buy it on DVD by March of 2007 (unless the release date changes ).

Now, this new friend of ours has pretty much offset the whole trying to get a foot in the door scenario.  The door is open.  We've been asked to walk on in, and the short film is our first offering.  This whole situation is two-fold, though.  See...with every passing day, I have been generating further interest in other things from the Conflict Scripts website such as - The Hold, ROOK and most importantly, TALES OF THE DAMNED.  I've been given information that a very respected name in the horror film industry is about to make a major move to having a television channel and wanting to produce specific TV shows per that channel.  Unlike past failed efforts of other horror channel networks, I promise you that these people have the money to toss around to ensure that it will work.

I hate that this possible future rests solely in the hands of Chris and I at the moment, but I can promise you that we are going to kick ass making this short film the most amazing it can be.  It's in our best interest to do so.

Oh, and Village Roadshow/Warner Brothers are moving to Memphis, TN where I live...maybe you've heard of them.  I figure that with a major distributed project on shelves everywhere by the spring, when Village Roadshow opens their doors and look at local talent then they won't have to look much farther than Chris and I, Craig Brewer and several other indie filmmakers in town.  I hope that Chris and I can become catalysts to getting all of the Conflict Scripts features and finished products into some form of production.  I mean, right now, The Hold is an animated series possibility...not sure how that will work out, but hell I'll take it if it happens.

Also, don't worry about the doorway for now being just horror or genre related products.  I don't expect that I'd want to stay in that genre forever because I have such a love for other subjects, but I am very grateful for what is happening.  If I don't ever have any other option except for doing horror/genre pics then I could still be happy.  My goal, though, is that we all get into the action.  I'm going to do everything I can to make that possibility present itself.

So much appreciation to all of you, and if I'm not posting much until October, now you all know why.  I'm making a freaking movie!!!  And damn, it's actually some hard work..haha!

later guys and gals"
