| 'Hold' is one man's story during apocalyptic times. Daily events are captured in his journal as he struggles to survive the plague of the undead. Zombie journal 'HOLD' breaks into the world of publishing: I knew it, my fellow colleagues at Conflict Scripts knew it and I know for a fact that the creator couldn't and wouldn't rest until it happened. Our good friend, co-writer and colleague, Duane P. Craig, has finally reached a goal he set himself back when his epic online zombie journal series 'HOLD' finished it's fifth and final stint over at the CS forums. This intelligent and thought provoking tale of one man's struggle against the undead is now the subject of a brand new novel brought to you by publishers Knight Entertainment. Duane P. Craig (Author and Head of Conflict Scripts USA): "HOLD was really just going to be a short story I wrote in early 2005, originally titled, " The Dead of Nowhere " - a featurette if you will for the Conflict Scripts website. I actually had my beginning, middle and same ending done in about 42 pages. It was already solid in all of its major plot points. The whole thing was also just this narrative from only one central character's point of view. My decision to rewrite it and expand upon it as nothing but journal entries became my two-part saviour. For one, it became a lot easier for any reader to relate to the central character. I used this on purpose after convincing myself that people do indeed have this inherent impulse to read someone else's journal or diary. We do it because we know it'll include what that person is really like and all of their little secrets. We also get full depth to a person and realise what's really important to them no matter what the situation of the day was. The secondary and no less important reason is that I started to feel like I could really tell this expansive and epic story that was constantly pushing forward across most of modern America. There were so many things I always wanted to explain away about the zombie mythology, reasons for things that the audience never gets, and I definitely didn't want to write a thousand-plus pages of details. The journal format is realistic, believable and so much more easily and quickly acceptable to a reader that a full day's scenario can be summed up into a few pages. It really helped me stick to the juicy stuff and yet still keep a constant interest with my audience. I was able to tell this story faster, and I did it to keep the audience interested at all times with very little dragging or boring parts. All in all, if you want a fast-paced story, lots of gruesome fights for survival, answers to a lot of zombie mythology questions and even a maddening sense of one's sanity through apocalyptic times...then, HOLD is the book for you." RC Knight (Head of Knight Entertainment): "Knight Entertainment is very excited to work with Mr. Craig. We are proud to start our publishing division with his fictional horror journal. We think that his vision is truly unique, and feel that he has a great career both in publishing and the film industry. Knight Entertainment are also very excited to work with him on his feature directorial debut 'CRUEL' and hope to collaborate with Duane on many more projects in the future."
