Release Date for SEQUENTIAL TAILLIGHT CONVERSION KIT
OCT 21, 2002
A minor feedback problem from the chips was causing failure after 2-3 hours on a tester.
I have still not been able to isolate the fault; this MAY be a component problem,
I have held off the project until Spring 2003, as Milwaukee weather is too damned cold
and I don't have a garage.Price; still should be $125-$135 Postpaid.
Sequential taillights? That sounds neat, but how will it operate? It sure is neat! Your Lincoln Mark VIII (1993-1996) has three taillamps on either Click [here] for NEW DETAILED INSTALL PIC [160K V1.JPG]
side of your license plate on your trunk lid, and a tail/turn signal on the corner.
After the kit is installed, when you operate your turn signal, your taillamps
come on and STAY ON like turn signals in order from center, middle, then outer, then the
regular corner-turn lamp, and then they shut off and repeat...just like the old Cougars!
Hey, I can't see my taillamps normally too well during a bright day. Will that be a problem?
Yes, it might. The stock bulbs are #194. The #168 bulb is the same socket design but is a few
more candlepower brighter. That might be enough for your car. Another option is L.E.D. conversion
(About $11 for a #194 or #168 bulb in LED from http://www.ledtronics.com
J.C. Whitney has LEDs for the corner lamps (#3057),
but I do not know the quality (And they have fewer LEDs per bulb) Sorry, there's no other way around this.
It's up to you to judge how "bright" is "bright".
White #168 bulbs look fine to me, but I use #912 (hi mount stop lamp). How complex is this device? Can't I get it at J.C. Whitney? 1.) Very. United States Patent is applied for and currently being researched. 2.) No, but if they did, it would be $150, and would you trust it? How fast does it blink? Is it adjustable?
Approximately 1 cycle per second. We decided to NOT make it adjustable for safety and
complexity reasons (And the unit would cost twice as much!) But what happens if I already have my taillights on? How will they blink? The circuit is designed to temporarily turn off the three trunklid taillights on your turning side,
and operate as sequential turn signals on that side as long as you operate the turn signal switch.
After your turn, the taillamps once again operate normally! What about the front signals? They operate normally, independant of this modification. And my hazards? What about those? They have a wonderful dual-sequential effect, as if both left AND right signals were on! But what do I get?
A HI-TECH device designed painstakingly over a period of three months, crafted by professional
electrical technicians (in the medical manufacturing field), and using the finest parts and
long-life heavy-duty electronics available.Housed in a water-resistant enclosure 4" x 6" x 1 3/4" with a partial wiring harness, solder,
and complete "Dummy Guide" instructions.
Detailed step-by-step procedure online with color pictures!
Delivered INSURED USPS PRIORITY MAIL with DELIVERY CONFIRMATION to the 48 States.
Alaska and Hawaii please add an additional $5. But what modifications must I do to my car? Your installation requires you to cut several wires and add-in several wires from the unit.
Three wires into the box, and eight wires out. Skill level on 1 to 10 is about a 5.
If you can change the fuel filter and spark plugs, you have more than enough skill to install this.
Additional help is online with a "Dummies' Guide" and color pictures, as well as tool instruction. What tools do I need? Screwdrivers, trim-removal tool or sidecutters (For those ribbed push-clips),
wirestripper (pliers-type, 16/18 gauge) Either wire-nuts, "splice-clips", or solder and
heatshrink tubing (preferred method). But how long will it take? Well, our test vehicle took three hours, but we were taking pictures for the guide, and making the
installation look very professional. We suggest giving yourself three hours as well,
just in case you make a mistake or find existing problems.
Don't think you wired something wrong if one light doesn't work, it might be a bulb!
Make sure everything works before you do anything. Why use solder? Can't I just use those splice-in things I used for my trailer hitch on the truck? Well, sure you can, but it is NOT waterproof, and you're just asking for trouble.
Not only that, it cuts a few strands of the wire inside, reducing the amount of current that can safely
and adequately be delivered. A good solder joint, on the other hand, is "forever", and heatshrink
makes it water-tight. Next best thing is wire-nuts covered in rubberized tape Is there any warranty? Everything will be judged on a case-by-case basis, but I think 90 days is reasonable.
I have no way of knowing what kind of condition your car or its electrical system is in,
if the installation was done correctly, or if your voltage regulator goes bad and fries
everything on the car, including the device.
We don't make much profit on this, I designed it so our cars can be "COOL" and "DIFFERENT" and "UNIQUE",
and wanted the device to be durable. After all, my reputation as an inventor is on the line here,
so I used the BEST quality parts available.
Every unit is tested and timed before it is sold, if it is damaged in shipping we will make an insurance claim
and send you another unit immediately. Is there a wait? Not if you hurry! Much is invested in time and money for this project. We have no capital and do not operate
as a business...we can only order enough parts for about 10-15 units at a time...so these are RARE.
...just us two technicians building them in our spare time. We both have full-time jobs with overtime,
so this taxes our family life...but we are excited to offer OUR device to YOU, it gives us a great feeling of
success and accomplishment! Do you take Credit Cards? We sure do! Please e-mail BEFORE making payment...if we have one in stock or can build one in 3-4 days,
we will process the order. If not, we'll refund your order. You MUST have a "PayPal" account for us to accept credit cards. This protects BOTH of us! :) Get a 100% FREE account (earns interest, 1.91% APR as of June 13th, 2000) GET PAID $5 JUST FOR SIGNING UP by using this link:
