"Three Promises"
She sat on the sofa her eyes smiling his way.
It was the very beginning for he had known her but a short few days.
The season was upon them the starting of a time
a friendship slowly growing much as a flower of a special kind.
An e-mail, a phone call, a card they had shared
So little yet so very much had brought them together there.
He saw in her a faintly hope to turn his life around
He formed the words within his soul and listen to their sound.
He had to be sure she would believe these words he would say
So he choose them carefully before he spoke
no untruths would he speak this day.
Searching deep within her eyes for the hope he hoped to find
he spoke the words,
I'll be good to you,
I'll treat you right
and
respect you all the time.
Yet, the seasons now have come and gone with no words of love to say
Three simple promises made to her still stands though she's gone away.
Not only has she took the hope as faintly as it did seem
She took the spark that lit the dark he no longer dares to dream.
