Over and over I tried to forget you,
I tried not to think of the love we have known
I looked deep inside in search of the person,
the person I was before you left me alone.
Many a night with head on my pillow,
fighting the tears that welled up inside
Wishing to hold you, wanting to know you,
while sleep would not come as for you I cried.
Somewhere, oh somewhere within this old world,
looking for life in places unknown
hoping to find a rose to bloom within me,
while wondering down roads filled with thistle and stones
Tomorrow, yes tomorrow my heart will again laugh,
my lips will then sing a happier song
Yet today I'll just travel this lonely old hi-way,
still searching for life in places unknown
I'm told that serenity must come from within us,
we must find it within our own soul
No other can teach us what it means to be tranquil,
like watching a flower as it slowly unfolds
So I'll just keep looking in search of that person,
the person who dwells, deep within me alone
While traveling this road, it leads me to no where,
still searching for life in places unknown
Yes,
Over and over I've tried to forget you,
I've tried not to think of the love we have known
I've looked deep inside in search of the person,
the person I was before you left me alone.
