Creation

How old is the earth? Was Noah's flood global or regional? Were all of the craters on the moon formed within the past 6,000 to 10,000 years? Aren't the stars billions of light years away? If they are, doesn't that indicate the universe is older than 10,000 years?

Preterist Brian Kimball says, "Darwinism?  Don't you know that you would have to believe in Darwinism /evolution even more than Darwin did if you believe that all of our different specialized species came to be in such a very short time since the time of the supposed global flood?"

Did you know that all of the Creation Science leaders like Henry Morris, John Whitcomb, Ken Ham etc are futurist who hold to a wooden literal interpretation of the Bible. Preterist understand the Olivet Discourse,   2 Peter 3, and Revelation to contain apocalyptic, covenantal language. The sun, moon, and stars imagary in prophetic language is symbolic. If the seven bowls in Revelation is covenantal language, than is it possible that the creation account is described in covenantal language also?

Preterist Tim Martin has written a book called
Beyond Creation Science. In it he says that Preterist are being inconsistent if they interpret the Genesis account of creation in a wooden literal fashion since they do not interpret the prophetic passages the same way. He argues for a regional flood and a covenantal view, not scientific view, of the Genesis creation account. Genesis 1 no more gives us a desription of how God created the world than Revelation give details of the fall of Jerusalem. If you want details on the destruction of Jerusalem you have to read Josephus. Likewise, if you want to know how God created the world, you examine science. Genesis 1 is covenantal.

Tim's view is at least worth a look. Click here to read the book on line.
