Second Annual Horcktoberfest

About the Event

The Second Annual CSFA Horcktoberfest was an adventure extrodinaire with all of the forces and powers that be working to defeat us - but it would not be so as we prevailed and the tournament was held as inspite of everything.

First there was the T-shirt disaster Kinkos dealt us, and you can read about that below. Then LSU et. al. moved the football game from 7pm to 11:40am and so the traffic, police induced mayhem and sports fan idiocy that comes with that was thrown at us. Combine that with the weather turning decidedly sour on Friday and it raining mostly Friday and this Saturday - the ground was soaked. Inability to access due to barricades and mayhem combined with high water and muddy ground prevented the event from taking place on the levy. Not detered we set up shop in the parking lot in front of Georges' appartment and fenced on.

Initially, the sun came out and things cleared up - it looked very promising. The Southern tasted strong as ever. But then all hell broke loose as gallon after gallon of water fell from the sky. The fencers braved the down pour and the cooling water actually lessened the effect of the poisions although the cold nearly incapacitated some particularly suseptible fencers; right Beth?

When all was said and done, we had our three champions and and broke up to go home and dry off in preparation for the evenings festivities, after all... If you want blood, ..... you got it!.

The event is a CSFA organized event designed to remove the fencers from the typical surroundings of competition. It was conceived in the twisted little minds of the Founders: Thomas Smailus, George Fuller, Beth Hughes.

The Horcktoberfest used the current CSFA rules of the event.
