Subject: Coney Will Pitch Again

All I can say about tonight's game is we'd better not play like this
in the playoffs. After feeling better about Nellie and Stanton, the
doubts are creeping back again. Duque was fantastic though!

Torre has said that Coney's poor relief outing was caused by his
lingering shoulder pain (then why did you put him in if you knew he
was hurting Joe?). Anyway, he's going to get another chance to come in
in relief before the regular season ends.

Kay & Sterling were saying yesterday that there's a possibility the
Yankees would re-sign David under certain conditions. He's never been
known to be a work out type of guy, but if he did some conditioning in
the off season and built up his legs, it would really improve his
prospects of coming back another year. They could offer him a base
salary with incentives. It will be interesting to see what happens to
the team over the winter.

In the meantime, good luck to everyone scrounging for playoff tickets
tomorrow!

PS - here's a cute photo of David whistling (?) in the dugout.

Hey guys, i was just curious if any Courtiers got Yankees playoff tickets
since they went on sale today. I was lucky enough to come away
with 2 tickets for game 1 in the upper deck and 4 tickets for the game 5 (if
necessary) in the bleachers.....I wonder if Coney will make the postseason
roster??? I think he will as a reliever...talk to you all later,

Hey everyone, well I didnt buy tickets but I know that I will have at least
one play off game but I am not sure which one. We have season tickets and
split them with a bunch of poeple that my dad works for, so I am not sure how
we are dividing them. I know that we had the 3rd most games, so we will
definitely get at least one. Does anyone know how that works with season
ticket holders?? Do they make the seats availabe to you first, and then if
you dont want them (like anyone wouldnt, lol) then they sell them to other
people?? Just wondering since we never really had season tickets before, how
it works for playoffs. :)

Christina-
I have season tickets too. How it works is that they offer you the option to
purchase the post-season tickets. We sent in our money 2 weeks ago &
received the tickets on Tuesday. I guess whatever is leftover goes to
sponsors and/or fans. It depends on which plan you have as to how many
post-season games you're entitled to.

I'll see you & anyone else who's going at the Division Series. And hopefully
after that too. The way they've been playing lately really scares me. They
need to turn things around QUICKLY or they'll be back home cleaning out their
lockers before we know it.

Kathy,

We have the plan that gives you every home game, hehe. So hope that means
that we will get every playoff game too. If that is the case, then me and my
dad might actually get more than one of the games. I think my dad said that
they sent the money too, but i dont know if they have recieved the tickets
yet. I hope its not too late now to get them :(

I agree, the Yankees really have to get their acts together or else it
might not be looking to good for them. I have this gut feeling that they will
clinch tonight though. After that embarassing loss last night, they better
win tonight!!!

Hi all

I might actually be in NYC the week of the 9th. If anyone is looking to
unload tickets let me know. Altho- we have to get past round 1, and like
Katy mentioned the way we've been playing... well, let's say things don't
look so good right now

Let's hope we can clinch tonight!!

Sterling just said Coney is going to start tomorrow! Let's keep our
fingers crossed. This team needs him badly! I also just heard Jason
Grimsley told Torre he has pain in his elbow and he was sent for an
MRI.

This is Coney's big chance to have a meaningful role on our postseason
roster. Let's send out good vibes to him!

*Sends good vibes to Coney* Is that enough, or should I send more? It's not
like I need good vibes anyway. hehe. :) Although my a gut and psychic
instinct tells me he's gonna win it tomorrow.. but don't slaughter me if they
don't.. it's just a gut instinct.

I'm just extremely worried if he CAN pitch with this injury. Not that I
don't have faith he'll do well in such a pressure situation -- heck, after
the way Andy pitched (and the Yankees have been playing tonite) it doesn't
get much worse than this, so tomorrow WOULD theoretically be the day...
however, I'm just having these strange doubts that it isn't worth it for Cone
to fool himself. Most players pitch through the pain, but face it, you don't
just dislocate your shoulder like that and then be able to kiss it and make
it all better. It's obvious he's in pain, and I'm just afraid he's
physically (as well as emotionally) hurting himself; he agravates it every
time he lifts his glove to catch the ball.... the little things like that can
alter your delivery... and it's obvious the injury is what has caused
everything (3-1 3.86 since his 2nd win before 9/5/00; his ERA since then has
been in the double digits--eek!)... I'm mainly just hoping he recovers and
this doesn't have any longstanding effects on the rest of his career -- I'd
hate to think a little thing like this is what ended it all.... guess I'm
just praying that he's healthy enough to get the job down tomorrow... if he
is, there's no stopping him...

the Yankees did just clinch, so maybe they will play better because of it! I
think Coney will have a good game tomorrow!

Boy, doesnt look like the Yankees will be celebrating much tonight, they look
so down. They just showed a shot of the Yanks going into the club house all
passing the champagne on the ice and didnt even look at it, just kept
walking. :( Hope they can pull off two more wins and go into the post season
on a positive note.

*Also sending good vibes to Cone....*

Susan, that is fabulous news, thank you so much for telling us! I
unfortunately have been at work all day, and with being so estranged from
the NY area I am just getting the news now! What wonderful members you
all are...:) I'm excited for Cone, and I hope so much that he pitches
well...it will be so good for him if he does...

Penguin brought up many good points, though. I too, am concerned about
his shoulder, I wonder how much pain he is really experiencing...more than
he lets on, I'm sure. But I don't want him to risk further injury or to
jeapordize the rest of his career, either. Let's just hope that this is a
good thing, and that grand results will come from it instead of tragic
ones...

Also let's hope the Yankees can fire up their play now that they have
clinched. Christina, it was really sad to hear about the guys looking so
upset, but you can't blame them. After all of these pretty much
embarassing losses in a row, I guess even clinching the division isn't
very consoling...But like you said hopefully they will end on a good note,
starting tomorrow...:)

Akino-- I hope you have a fun time in Baltimore, and cheer on Cone for all
of us!! :)

Also, welcome to our newest member...we are glad to have you!!

Take care, and thanks again everyone for writing~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Subject: Cone's last game of the regular season...

http://www.geocities.com/coney36_nyy/

Hello everyone...sorry this note is so late! I actually added a lot to
the site, so I wanted to write you all after I was finished with all of
that.

So it seems that Cone's last game of the season wasn't a success like we
all had hoped, but I do think that his injured left shoulder and the fact
that the Yankees just haven't been playing well lately were contributors
to this outcome. I read that Torre claimed Cone's stuff was good, and
that he threw a lot of strikes, he just made some mistakes and he got
tired early (due to the shoulder, I think.) I was also glad to read that
Cone most likely will be on the post-season roster, providing his shoulder
isn't bothering him...

The front page has been updated...please take special note of the link to
strike out Lou Gehrig's disease! This is another great charitable
campaign Cone sponsors, and the link discusses how everyone can
contribute! I've also included a link to ProSportsPages.com, where you
can access all of the Yankee news on one site!

I've added more articles to the Various Articles and Perfect Game
sections, including the Top 10 list that Cone read from the David
Letterman show! The Charities page has also been updated, with a neat
link to a page about the Ride for Life 2000...it's a really wonderful page
that talked about how much Cone helped with the event and there are a lot
of great pictures! The Contributors page has been updated as well...

stronger. Hope the guys can get it together too.

Good morning fellow court members....

How about Saturday's start??? Like Pen, I was kind of upset that they
started him. After all, it was pretty much written in stone that he was
going to be in the bullpen, then he starts. I am just glad Boston won
Friday night, so Coney wasn't put under pressure to do well. I just hope he
didn't aggravate his shoulder anymore, because quite honestly, I just don't
think he's at 100% and he desperately wants to help our team... he is so
wonderful :)

Well, our team is California bound!! What a fun trip that should be for our
guys, who haven't had a day off since a month or so!!! I heard they stayed
in Baltimore to wait to see who they will be playing, then got on a plane
back to NY. They are practicing today at the stadium then are taking a 6:00
flight out west. Think they'll win tomorrow???

I am headed to NY on Saturday!! I have family there in Westchester. I am
hoping that I can see the guys play a game, just don't know a good ticket
broker. Any suggestions???

Here in Chicago they are having a "pep-rally" for the White Sox today
because fan attendance has been so pathetic. Can you believe that???
Here's a team that hasn't been to the play-offs since the early 80's and
they have NO support...

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

KC you are just awesome keep up the good work on the page!!!

Can't believe the regular season is over (boo-hoo)

agree, David isn't 100% but thats what he gives. I really

It made so sad that that's the way it ends this season. :( I'm glad to hear
that Cone probably will be on the post season roster. =X I guess em gut
instincts of mine are off now. :( Anyway, I'm glad that it's the post-season,
but I'm sad that them Yankees aren't playin well. Hopefully, that'll pick up
tomorrow.

Thought everyone would enjoy seeing this if you haven't already:

by Lawrence Rocca
Staff Correspondent
10/3/2000

Oakland - Moments after the final loss of the Yankees' surreal
late-season collapse, David Cone marched into their clubhouse in
Baltimore, slammed his glove to the floor and shouted out a message he
hoped would echo within his teammates all the way to today.

"I don't have a 6 ERA anymore," Cone bellowed, using self-deprecation
as a point of instruction.

The season is over, Cone was reminding everybody, the 15 losses in the

final 18 games don't matter anymore. The seven straight losses to end
the season don't matter anymore. For that matter, the huge lead the
Yankees built in early September and all the trades they made this
season and the three World Series they have won in the past four years
don't matter, either.

The only thing that matters now, Cone was saying, is what happens from
now on.

"That was perfect," Chuck Knoblauch said yesterday. "I hope everybody
heard it."
it.

-------------

All right now, we're only down one game and there's plenty more
baseball to be played. Andy is going to come up BIG for us tonight,
and who knows...we might see David get a shot.
