References for Cyrus Cone, Revolutionary Soldier
Cyrus' Rev. War Record: Cyrus served as a private in Col. Samuel McClellan's regiment according to Collections of the Conn. Historical Society Volume VIII, pub 1901, page 185. Also, CT archives, Rev War, Series I, 1763-1789, Vol 13, page 363C. This regiment was raised for one year's service from March, 1778. ***Note from Karen: I have read that it served in Rhode Island, but have not been able to verify that. Quote from: page 543 Record of Service of Connecticut Men in the War of the Revolution compiled by authority of the General Assembly, Hartford 1889 Re: Col. McClellan's Regiment "This regiment raised for one year's service from March (17) 78, appears to have served in Tyler's Brigade Under Sullivan in Rhode Island August-Sept (17)78." ***Note from Karen: This reference lists only the officers and cannot be used to verify Cyrus' service in the Rev. War since he was a private. However, it does offer a historical reference for the regiment.
