The Search for Extraterrestrial Life

I’m going to tell you about the big change in life on Earth. It has changed pretty much everything; our lifestyle and our technology. Hi, my name is Lynsi. I am an astronaut and I work for NASA.
It all started when the United States was on a search for extraterrestrial life. They sent radio signals and made it clear that we existed. We wanted to know if anyone else was out there and what they were like. We wanted to know how they lived their daily life and what their intelligence level was.
They soon found out that they weren’t the only life in the universe. The aliens had finally received the message. They had also been searching for other life. We all thought, “This could be the day we’ve all been waiting for.”
They couldn’t understand English. They spoke some language we didn’t even know existed. This would become the main difficulty in finding them. Could this stop us from communicating? Of course not. We are always studying to find solutions to new problems. We can defiantly figure this one out.
The aliens had enough technology to send us a signal letting us know they were out there too. It turned out, they had better technology than us and found a way to send a signal fast enough to reach us before a months time. When the signal reached Earth, we were overjoyed, confused, and frightened all at the same time. We were frightened because they had so much technology that they could kill us all if they wanted to. They could capture us or do anything for all we knew.
A few days later, NASA decided to make a trip to Pluto. As intelligent as the aliens and we were, surely between us we could figure out some way to communicate.
On April 13, 2001, a few other astronauts,  scientists, and I took off for Mars. We had so many emotions running through our minds. I for one was scared to death. I didn’t know how they would act toward us. I didn’t know how they were going to react to us or what they would do. I was worried about technical difficulties just like everyone else does when they travel into space. But most of all I was hoping the aliens weren’t going to harm, capture, or kill us.
We finally arrived on Pluto. The aliens were somewhat different from us. They were kind of brown in color so they didn’t get too cold. The aliens had bigger bodies I assume for bigger lungs because of thinner air. They were kind of chunky so they were more insulated since it is so cold on Pluto. The aliens had these special outfits they wore. They called them fuzzies. Their outfits looked like snowsuits. They wore fluffy shoes that were called footies. The aliens weren’t real tall; middle sized. For a while, we both just looked at each other to see the differences between us. Overall, they were similar in looks.
We stayed for a couple of days to study their lifestyle and I guess they studied us and our language because they came up with some kind of device that worked like a translator. The aliens would speak into it and when they pushed a button, it was translated to English so we could understand it.
I was so thankful that they weren’t harmful creatures. We found out from speaking with them that they had lived on Pluto for quite some time, even when our probes had come to explore the planet. They made a place built underground to hide in case of attack from any other life form.
All of their homes were built underground. The opening to get down to their houses had been made to look like a crater. Their houses were well built. Their food was little animals that they raised underground. There was no plant life so they were carnivores but they never ate each other. Their bodies function pretty much the same as ours except they breathed a little harder because of little amounts of oxygen.
The aliens had asked if they could come to earth to study our lifestyles since they had allowed us to. So on April 25, 2001 we left to head back to earth with a few of the aliens so they could study life on Earth.
Since they were used to smaller amounts of oxygen and so we didn’t get them used to a lot of oxygen, we let them study in the mountains and up in higher elevations since air is thinner there.
They studied us very carefully. They wrote down everything they found out about us. They wrote how our houses were built, what we ate, and what we did as a part of everyday life. They took everything they found out back to Pluto. They told everyone on Pluto about their visit. To them, it is now kind of like a little legend that tells how the aliens met us people.
We now communicate with each other everyday. We have learned from them and they have learned from us. We have put our technology together and have made the Earth a better place to live. They have helped us to work with pollution problems and we work with them. Today they are just like another culture to us. We share ideas and technology so we can make life easier for the both of us.
