Extraterrestrial Life

“Ring, Ring “ That’s the telephone and its only four a.m. on March 9th.  It’s my boss he wants me to come to the laboratory early. They have some activity such as a regular pattern of beeps from the coming from the satellites to earth that are coming to our system. These patterns could be evidence of life on some planet that we have not yet discovered and studied.
I’m an astronomer working for SETI and my life can be very interesting but hectic. Just like the calls in the middle of the night to come to the lab and study the signals being sent back to Earth from some where in outer space or if they spot something in the sky that is unusual I have to go in and study the object. So we know if we need to take any special precautions for our safety like if it was an asteroid that was going to hit Earth or anything else that would endanger life on this planet. It could just be a star, planet, or comet moving into our view here on earth, which we also like, to study and record.
We kept getting a regular signal, which consisted of a beep coming in our speakers from a satellite that was receiving the noise in the laboratory early that morning on March 9th. We decided that we better keep monitoring this all day or at least till we figured out what was causing it. The signals kept coming and one time at about two in the afternoon we heard a noise that sounded like a voice trying to communicate with us but we couldn’t understand it. So we sent out a message our selves into space.
“Is anyone out there?” said one of our astronomers that happened to be on duty that day.
Then after we sent that message we weren’t receiving any signal at all. We didn’t know what had happened. Our astronomers checked through everything looked through telescopes but they could not figure out anything. We were lost we didn’t know what we could do now. We had received a message that we couldn’t understand but now we had lost the signal completely. We were getting worried that something had happened maybe even another country had put nuclear weapons in space and they were ready to hit Earth. If another country did plant weapons bombs in space they could be so close to Earth that we lost the signal. We were all scared and didn’t know what to do.
This went on for days, but we kept studying to see if we could find out what had caused the signal. Then at about two a.m. on March 15th another signal came in this time it was a voice. The message we heard was “noi nivea nicona”. We had no clue what this was supposed to mean. We didn’t know what language the person was speaking. We all studied and tried to figure it out but nobody could. Then we decided that the only thing we could do was send another message.
Our head astronomer said, “We have received your message, but I’m sorry to say we can’t understand your language.” “I’m hoping that you can understand English,” said the head astronomer.
We waited a few days very impatiently, but we finally received a message. It said, “We have received your message I am the only person here who can speak English.” “The other people want me to now communicate with you and translate because I know both languages.” “The noi nivea nicona meant yes people are out here,” said the man.
We were very happy to have received this message. We had now found intelligent life in space. We were happy to learn that there were other human-like creatures out there besides us. Now we didn’t know what to do. Should we send another message and try to figure a way to meet or were they going to try and destroy the Earth. After a few days discussing the ups and downs of sending and not sending another message we decided to send a message.
This time we said, “We have once again received your message and we were wondering if it was ok for us to meet.”
We did not know if we should ask to meet, but we really wanted to see what these other creatures looked like and how they lived. We wanted to know where they were from and if that planet, moon, or other object was fit for us to live on. If it was fit for our living we could have some of our people go there and if Earth was fit for their living some of their people could come here. We could learn so much about each other’s needs and way of life.  We could also be able to study different parts of the sky. It would be easier to see different constellations, groups of stars that represent animal or other objects, and planets when you would be out closer to the objects that you are trying to look at.
We studied the messages we got and tried to find ways that we could travel to the area where the message was sent from and about a week later we received another message. It said we would love to meet and we will send a few of our astronomers to come meet you. No need for you all to come to us. Don’t send another message because we won’t receive it. We will be leaving soon to come to Earth. We were all very excited after about two to three weeks we were going to actually meet the aliens that we had been having a long distance conversation with.
We didn’t know when they would arrive, but we knew we had to be ready. Even though we didn’t think that anything would happen we were going to be ready for everything even the worst.
For the next couple of weeks we kept in touch with all the places on the Earth that we thought they might try and land. Nobody else had heard the message that we knew of so we didn’t just come out and ask specific questions. We asked questions like have you had any unusual landings in your area. None of these places had unusual landings unless they just weren’t telling us.
After about a month and a half we had given up they weren’t coming and we had lost their signal so we couldn’t even send them a message. We didn’t know what we should do.  After two months went by we went through the procedure once again we contacted all the places on Earth that we thought they might try and land. We had some luck this time. At Kennedy Space Center in Florida they told us that they had an unusual landing and that the people were still there that we could talk to them. We told them who we were and that we were the ones that they had had the long distance conversation with.   We immediately decided to fly down there and talk with them.
When we got down there we talked about how they lived and what their needs were and we told them about us. We found out that they could live here just as well as where they came from and they had all the necessary things that we need to live on their planet. We decided that we should send some of our people there and some of there people should come and stay here for a while and that we could all do some experiments to test certain things that each wanted to find out about the other.
They lived on a planet called Kironae as they called it. It was way out of our solar system and galaxy. They had invented a faster way of receiving and sending messages that had made it easier for us to communicate. They also had special transportation that let them get to earth a lot faster than they could have if they had the same type of space shuttles as we do today.
When we got to Kironae we found that it was much like Earth and we enjoyed the view of what we could see from Kironae that we could not see from Earth.
We had a fun trip and we hope to have more days where we get phone calls to come in early because of activity. This is what makes being an astronomer fun to be. Some people think that it would be boring just to look at the starts but there is a lot more to it than just looking at the stars.
