I was sitting on my couch watching Sports Center when all of a sudden the lights flickered and then went out. I heard a loud BOOM as the windows cracked and all was silent.
I stumbled through my dark, empty, house looking for a flashlight. I tried two different flashlights before I found one that worked. I ran outside to see that my neighbors house was destroyed and my garage was about to fall off of my house.
I ran to my truck, which luckily I had parked in the street, to go see what had caused so much damage. I headed toward the spotlights and emergency vehicles that I saw a few miles away. As I drove down the twisted gravel road I realized that whatever had caused the extensive damage in my neighborhood had to be pretty big and powerful. I also realized that if the near by air force base had known that this, this, thing was coming they probably would have tried to warn us.
I was about a mile from the lights and sirens. I turned off my head lights, so not to be detected, as I slowed down to nearly a trotting pace. I new that the lights were just over the next hill. I then pulled into the field by the road and parked my truck. I headed out across the field. As I crossed terrace after terrace I began to feel a little uneasy and I knew that whatever I was up against was big and strong. I walked over what would be my final terrace as I saw that monstrous craft. At least two hundred feet in diameter and fifty feet tall.
What should I do? Should I leave? Should I hide? Should I try and talk with these, these, whatever they were? At that moment doors opened all over the ship and round tubes popped out. A loud, deep voice filled the night as I hit the ground realizing that I had about five huge gun barrels were pointed at me.
?We need your planet in order to survive.? ?We have studied your kind and found that we can not live with you.? ?You must be destroyed.?
I thought I?m in way over my head here. I think I?ll leave. As I got up out of the dirt I felt a tingly feeling throughout my body. It was like when you pass out and lose all feeling in your body. That?s kind of what it felt like.
The air tight doors shut behind me as I was being dragged into what looked like a theater. Large headed green aliens with eyes hanging down by their elbows started to walk into the room from all different directions. A few walked toward me and were swatted away by what seemed like an electric fence which surrounded me.
? What are you doing to me?? I asked.
? Just relax.? a deep voice said.
I turned my head to see a huge sparkling ball walking toward me. I became very nervous, I was starting to have second thoughts about this whole trip.
?My name is Bruno, take me to your leader,? he said.
?:Leader, what leader and why?? I asked.
? Because he can either turn your world over to us as slaves or he can refuse and suffer the consequences.? Bruno said.
? How did you learn English,? I asked.
? Your world?s radio signals,? Bruno answered. ?Quit trying to change the subject.? ?Where is your leader??
? Washington D.C.? I answered.
? Take us there and you will be spared if your leader refuses,? Bruno said.
? I would, but I can?t fly this thing so I guess I?ll just be on my way,? I answered.
? Sit down you ignoramus human.? ? Guards, if this peon tries to escape send him to the hounds,? Bruno stated.
The floor started to shake and I heard rocket engines start to roar. I felt weightless and I knew that we were headed for the capital.
A huge screen came up in front of the room. I saw a picture of the White House and knew we had arrived at our destination. Bruno sat at a microphone as I heard his voice echo throughout the ship.
?Give up now or be destroyed,? Bruno announced. ?We have a human aboard.? ?Give up now or be destroyed in a matter of minutes!? ? I have a thousand more ships hovering right out side of your planet?s moon.?
The President refused and declared war. That next fifteen minutes were the only time during the whole ordeal that I was glad I was on board the ship.
Nuclear missiles were brought to use once again by the United States and the Soviet Union. This time though, the two countries were on the same side and not trying to kill one another. Moscow was made into a pile of rubble as was Peking. Japan was wiped of the map and Antarctica wasn?t even safe from the attacks of the aliens.
Half the world was blown into space and if you were lucky enough to have lived you had very little to survive off of. As for me I haven?t seen earth since the day the President declared war on a group of aliens that out populated the world.
I sit here today, July 4, 2038, writing this and explaining what happened. So in the event that people did survive the bombardment they might know my story.
I hope one day to take control of this ship and steer it back toward earth. If this ship does make it back to earth and you find this, Please try to see the mistakes made by my generation and don?t repeat them in yours. For you see if my generation wouldn?t have tried to communicate with extraterrestrial life earth wouldn?t have been left in ruins and I wouldn?t be writing this for you to read.
