The following terms are used by the Concord Ghost Research Association (CGRA) and their meaning should be understood. Many of them are unique to the C.G.R.A.

Agent: A human being, typically a teenage female, who unknowing directs poltergeist energy.

Altered State of Consciousness (ASC): Any state of consciousness that is different from "normal" states of waking or sleeping.

Amulet: An object that has the power to ward off ghosts and evil spirits.

Angel: Benevolent spiritual beings who help and watch over people.

ANPSI (Animal Psi): Indicates paranormal capacities of animals.

Anomaly: Something that is different, abnormal, peculiar or not easily classified within a scientific aspect.

Apparition(s): If a spirit is visible to the eye or captured as a full body spirit entity then we call the phenomenon an apparition. The apparition may be of an orb, ectoplasmic mist or some other kind of spirit manifestation. Full body human apparition is very rare as it takes tremendous amounts of energy to appear in human form.

Apport: When a solid object seemingly appears from out of nowhere, with the help of the spirits in the presence of a medium.

Asport: When a solid object is teleported to a different location (Generally known to disappear in one room and appear in another room within seconds) with the help of the spirits in the presence of a medium.

Astral Body: The soul of an individual projected outside of their bodies.

Astral Projection: Out-Of-Body Experience generally with a matter of control.

Atmospheric Apparition Structure Memory: Not actually a ghost or spirit, but instead a "visual imprint" of people and events that were left behind in the environment that continues to replay.

Aura: A field of energy (Bio Electric) that surrounds all living creatures.

Automatism: An unconscious or spontaneous muscular movement caused by ghosts or the spirits. Automatic Writing is one form of Automatism.

Automatic Writing: This is a communication with a ghost where the ghost controls a writer's hand and writes out messages. A person produces written material while controlled by a spirit, but the person is not conscious of what they are writing.  Often the handwriting will not at all resemble that of the controlled person.  A person may write pages and pages of words that they do not remember writing when they come back to their conscious state.

Ball Lightning: A phenomena that shows some sort of high energy ball, generally seen as about 8 to 10 inches in diameter; it travels slowly and penetrates anything it comes in contact with, leaving a great deal of damage behind.

Bilocation:  Reports of seeing the same person simultaneously in two separate locations.
