The philanthropy of the Delta Zeta Sorority is the Delta Zeta Foundation.
The foundation was established in 1961, and is supported by gifts from
collegiate chapters, alumnae chapters, and individual Delta Zetas. The
work of the foundation focuses on four main areas: scholarship, speech
and hearing, education, and the historical museum and headquarters.
Scholarships are awarded annually to Delta Zetas who have shown
excellence in academics and are in financial need. The foundation oversees
scholarships, and they are available in many areas, inluding sorority
expenses and specialized majors. Scholarships are also available to Delta Zetas who are entering graduate school and alumnae who are returning to
school.
The foundation also provides help to many causes associated with the
speech and hearing impaired. Delta Zeta has been associated with Gaulladet
University in in Washington, DC since 1955 and has endowed the Delta Zeta Scholarship Foundation and the Fine Arts Endowment Fund. Over $12,000 in scholarships is awarded annually to students at Gaulladet. Also, the
Parents Conference Room at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles was furnished by Delta Zeta, and funds have been given to the House Ear
Institute for research and clinical services for children. Delta Zeta
is also associated with the National Association of the Deaf, Council
for Better Hearing and Speech Month, and the Better Hearing Institute.
