Betta Finnage
Bettas are defined by there finage.  What type of Betta you have depends on your Betta's finage.  Here I will help you depict what type of betta you have.  Also if you got yours from a pet store 9 out of 10 times it is a veil tail.  So look at all the betta types i have learned about.
Betta Tails
Plakat Thai Betta(PT)
This is a short finned Betta.  This is the way wild Bettas are found.  All bettas were once like this.  As you can see they have shorter fins like female Bettas.  But short fins may not be showwy but in the wild they are very useful in the wild.  They are better for a quick get-away and long fins plus preditor equal one less betta. Sob:(
Half-moon Tail Betta(HM)
These Bettas are extremely rare.  They are barly ever turn out in spawns.  There fins are very pretty but sometimes won't breed because to inbred.  breed or won't flair much because of the weight.  Also it is noticed that even if you breed to half-moons(hm) you get none in the fry.  Now isn't that frusterating.  Alos they are very pricey because of fins.
Veil Tail Bettas(VT)
These are the most common tail on a betta.  These are not the most seeked for by betta breeders but are the ones most found in pet stores.  Their tail is longer but opens more on the bottom than the top when flaring.  This is the oringinal tail type that lead to every type of tail we have today.
Fan Tail Bettas(FT)
These are nice bettas.  They have nice fins and are not always to expensive.  Their torsal fin is rounded, see picture to the left.  These Bettas are very similar to the DL bettas, see below.  This tail opens up nice.  This tail looks like a fan with rounded edges.  These Bettas tails are symitrical,
Delta Tail Bettas(DL)
These are similar to the FT bettas but have a sharp corner.  The sharper the better.  This later led to the HM betta.  It's tail can go up to 180 degrees but more than that is considered a HM betta.  These Bettas tails are symitrical.
Double Tail Bettas(DT)
Double Tail Bettas have the double lobe.  These are very nice Betta.  They open up nice.  But the more even the lobe the better quality.  These are very pretty fish and are one of my favorites.
