| Wheezy, my first dog, is a german shepherd/rottweiler cross who was donated to the WCVM Vet School while I was a student. She was born with a condition called Persistent Right Aortic Arch, in which her heart developed backwards resulting in a stricture around her esophagus. At a young age she underwent an experimental thoracoscopic surgery to remove the stricture. It was the first time this procedure had ever been performed without doing open heart surgery. The procedure was a success and she is doing amazingly well. |
