| All the members of So Unloved were sitting in a cold basement in New Jersey when Concert Chaos called them to conduct the interview. Theyre still currently on tour with the Adicts and Bang Sugar Bang. Sick form being out on the road, and well, in a dark damp basement in of all places, NEW JERSEY, Cece, the for So Unloved, still sat in for a telephone interview.
So Cece, whos the other members of your band? Omega sings and plays guitar, Bass player is Lauren and drummer is Chris. How long have you been together? Well, me and Omega have been playing together for five years. She taught me how to play guitar when I was 13. And we formed an all girl band with a drummer and bassist, but they couldnt hang together. We went on tour with a band called No Cash and our drummer ended up taking a Greyhound home! So we pawned the drums in Hollywood and when we got back to Texas we got Chris to play drums and Lauren on bass. And weve had the same line up for two years. So youre all originally from Texas? We were all born and raised in San Antonio. We live in Los Angeles now. Hows L.A. for you? Well, ever since we moved into the center of Hollywood., We live right off of Sunset Blvd. So it took a while to get used to. We dont live in the best neighborhood. Theres defiantly a lot going on and a lot of crazy people 24/7. But its also been a lot more exciting than Texas. How many major tours have you been on? This is our 1st full tour. Were going from all the way up in New York back to California. Other than that we played a couple dates with Warped Tour, and the No Cash tour about a year ago . So this is our 1st big one. Whats it like to be on tour with the Adicts? Well, its a lot different than we expected, I think. Theyre all really nice guys. We were kind of intimidated by them at 1st. But they had a big BBQ at the guitarists house to kick off the tour, and we just kept to our selves, just our band in one corner. We started to get to know them well, and theyre great guys, complete sweethearts. We all have fun and hang out. Who are youre major influences? Well, actually, all our influences really vary. Me and Omega are really into street punk, we grew up on that. The rest of the band likes metal and really heavy hardcore. Lauren and Chris really into crazy shit like Frank Zappa and Crimson. We all share a love for reggae. We just like a bunch of crazy different stuff. Our new CD is such a fuse of different styles, its very interesting. We play sets and each one is different, depending on what style we want to play. Everything we like comes through. Tell me more about your debut album out. Its our 1st full length to be released. Its out on SOS records. We recorded 5 songs in Texas and when we moved out to L.A. we finished up the tracks. I laid down my guitar that was produced by John X. Hes this crazy producer whos worked with the Rolling Stones and Texas Harry, Iggy pop, so many guys. He mixed and matched 5 different songs and put the guitar on them. Then, in August, we went in the studio and were finishing 6 more songs with the Easy Steve whos done the Offspring Smash album and Warren Gs Regulator CD. He mixed and matched the other 6 songs to put out on the full-length Pink Black and Broken We wanted to have it out for the tour, but were still going with the 3 song disc out, which is going to be 3 songs off of the album. The albums supposed to come out now on Valentines Day 2006. Were re really excited the album coming on that day. Its pretty cool. The original date was set for this October but the record label wanted to push it back, and we want to have a big celebration for it so its best for it to wait out until February. Weve been working so hard for a really long time. Its great to finally have one full length under our belts. Were taking our time with it and being very patient. We have our self-titled EP out to sell on Interpunk and at shows. Can you pick one song out of all your available ones for Concert Chaos to put up on the site? Yeah, theres this song of ours called the Hunter. Its on our EP out now. It shows off our style the best, and its our favorite song to play. |
