| CC: You have been part of Mono VS Stereo for over a year now, what kind of impact has this decision made on the band and how your music is pushed out towards the metal scene? E: Its been crazy. Its been killer. We never expected the band to do so well so fast so its been really really good. Its been stoked. CC: How did you guys come up with the name Showdown for the band and is there any kind of meaning behind it? E: Not really. It's just, you know, we were thinking of a name and its the only one we all really agreed on. You know, pretty much everything we do is based around the battle of good and evil, so it all really ties into that. CC: How does it feel from becoming a local band from eastern Tennessee to touring all over the United States as well as over-seas? E: Wow...It's wow. Like I said we didn't really expect things to happen so fast but its awesome. We're grateful. CC: I have read on your Myspace account the comments people have left you, all of which have been extremely positive. What kind of reaction do you have to all the positive effects your band has made on your fans? E: Usually we are in it to hang out, you know. So we try and hang out, you know what i mean. So we try to hang out at as many shows and as with many people possible so it's always possible, so its always positive. The show is always fun so it's always about the kids and not us. CC: Alot of websites and webzines has labeled your band as " a breath of fresh air", knowing the big names in metal bands, this must feel good knowing your music is a newer, better sound, how do you feed on these type of reviews? E: Makes you feel good, you know what I mean, and that's what we're going for. So it's always good when people know that your different. CC: What style of music do you consider yourself to be and What do you think seperates your style such as lyrical content and tempo of music from the rest of the bands in your genre? E: I dont know, man. We try to be real legitament metal and you know, just trying to make fun of Showbred with our lyrics. Nah, we are just trying to sing about real stuff. We aren't trying to sing about girls and blood and like we try to be real with everything we do. CC: You began your Black Friday Tour last night, meeting up with Blindside and Showbread in Louisville, KY. How does the band feel playing with these two bands since the style of each band is different? E: It's cool. I think it makes good for a really really strong bill, so it brings in kids that normally wouldn't watch us but are here to watch Blindside or Showbred and maybe are not here for Blindside or Showbred but to see us. So it's really awesome that we all so different from each other, makes for a really really strong show. CC: How does it feel to have your song, A Monument Encased In Ash, on the same cd as Queens of the Stone Age, Finch, Team Sleep, and The Agony Scene? E: It's killer CC: How does the band feel about the caliber of fans and publicity you have recieved since becoming involved with Mono VS Stereo? D: we feel real good about it. It's killer because we really been good for us so all the good reviews and everything and we really haven't had any negative ones. So it's really encouraging and cool. We keep waiting for the bad stuff but it hasn't happened yet. CC: Blindside has sold-out almost every show they have played here in the States, how does it feel playing beside a band of such success? And how do you think your band will influence the rest of the Black Friday Tour? E: Man, we absolutely bringing hangtime to this tour. We can hang out so much harder than anyone else on this tour. Like we were out here earlier and we had like twenty kids out here with their shirts off doing push-ups and working out. So it's awesome to play with such a huge band like them and it's a great oppurtunity for us and for us to learn from them. D: And while we hang out with them we have the benefits of good food. |
