When it comes to history, not many people
can match Steve Earle As he proved on his recent
stop at the Tralf... Earle seems like a man educated
by his miss-steps and unwilling to play the "poor me"
game, that so many artist's love. His music never
seems bitter or self pitying. Instead of looking back
at himself Earle's set was mostly filled with
unselfish looks at the world around him. MM The last few years have seen a sort of fall from grace for Ministry, as posers and copycats ride the wave of numetal, which by the way is neither, the founding fathers of the music that came to be called Industrial parted ways with their major label and seemed to be fading from view.
John Brannon is in Easy Action, but you might remember him from his days
fronting the Laughing Hyenas. At a recent show at Mohawk Place his pipes were in fine working order.

I hate to complain, but sometimes there is just too much fun to have, last Friday was one of those nights for me. A Metal show and a hardcore both worth my attention. At the Showplace was Immolation, Grave, from Sweden and the aweome Goatwhore and Agnostic Front with Madball and Murphy's Law at the Continental.
Roger Miret still with the people and Vinnie Stigma bring the gospel of Hardcore to Buffalo.

That was all forgotten as the bulldozer that is Ministry made their first ever appearance in WNY at the Dome in Niagara Falls.
Al Jourgensen and company ripped through a decades worth of music in a nearly 2 hour show. The night began with a trio of songs from the new release Animositisomina Part political rally, part tent revival a Ministry concert is spectacle by sheer force. No pyro, no elaborate stage gimmicks, no body paint , but rather, substance... something that is at odds with corporate contrived music.
The music Ministry makes, no matter how bombastic or how hard the words are to understand, always has a message. Songs like Stigmata , Breathe and the accidental anthem So What, reverberate on a level that inconsequential music just cant muster. More recent additions to the bands songbook still rally the have nots. Filth Pig, Crumb and NWO all spit in face of the powers that be, something that I'm sure will never go out of style.
