Soundboard recording with a slight buzz throughout; a Saturday
afternoon show at UC San Diego which includes a slew of newly recorded fear
songs, three-and-a-half months before the album's release; "Way Away" to "Hold Her
Down": three-minute catchy-as-hell Toad tunes, one after the other; the edgiest
(read: best) version of "Good Intentions" out there; rare performance of "When We
Recovered"; "Come Back Down" gets the electric treatment here (sans
mandolin)...too bad it gets cut during the second verse; great setlist, nice
sound, good humor, excellent performance--a hell of a gig...much better than
CATS; Glen, with the home-truth quote of the decade: "It's hard getting happy in
music, because then your songs suck." (C.H.)
